Enough is enough! - Dr Ashfaque H Khan!
Finally...a reality check.
This is a serious breach of trust, also highlights the precarious situation of the reserves.
Indeed, no other way out, but wont happen before the new government gets installed as the IMF has said that it wont negotiate with the caretaker set up.
Pakistan needs to think of ways of making their election commission all the more powerful even with a democratically elected government in place and then do elections, in dire circumstances like these, an experiment like the caretaker government is a flawed one, and is showing.
Pakistan has managed to make itself an important player thanks to its nukes that the western world won't allow it to fail.
Thanks to the US for its shortsightedness in the 70s and 80s for winking at proliferation.
Seems like US is still suffering from myopia.
Indeed an important point to take up with our American friends on all ocassions.
The only reason Pakistan has nuclear weapons is because India built them.
A Brief History of Pakistan's Nuclear Program
Pakistan's nuclear weapons program was established in 1972 by Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, who founded the program while he was Minister for Fuel, Power and Natural Resources, and later became President and Prime Minister. Shortly after the loss of East Pakistan in the 1971 war with India, Bhutto initiated the program with a meeting of physicists and engineers at Multan in January 1972.
India's 1974 testing of a nuclear "device" gave Pakistan's nuclear program new momentum. Through the late 1970s, Pakistan's program acquired sensitive uranium enrichment technology and expertise. The 1975 arrival of Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan considerably advanced these efforts. Dr. Khan is a German-trained metallurgist who brought with him knowledge of gas centrifuge technologies that he had acquired through his position at the classified URENCO uranium enrichment plant in the Netherlands. Dr. Khan also reportedly brought with him stolen uranium enrichment technologies from Europe. He was put in charge of building, equipping and operating Pakistan's Kahuta facility, which was established in 1976. Under Khan's direction, Pakistan employed an extensive clandestine network in order to obtain the necessary materials and technology for its developing uranium enrichment capabilities.
In 1985, Pakistan crossed the threshold of weapons-grade uranium production, and by 1986 it is thought to have produced enough fissile material for a nuclear weapon. Pakistan continued advancing its uranium enrichment program, and according to Pakistani sources, the nation acquired the ability to carry out a nuclear explosion in 1987.
Wrong...Author is an RAW agent bent of maligning and dividing the 180 million strongest purest breed of people. Ain't happening. How can world be secure if Pak fails with nuclear bombs.... hain????.
Your first line is answered by you in your second line.
Pak started in 72 whereas India tested in 74. No one in the world knew of Indian nuke program till then.
You can give excuses for your myopic policies. Fact remains that the US winked at Pak China proliferation.
Anyways Indian nukes were never Pak centric but always against China. In fact US in the 60s encouraged India to test soon after China tested. Unfortunately India didn't have enough fissile material then. Time went, US admin changed and the door was shut on India
Unca Sam wont let em fail..
Pakistan nuclear program original started in 1956.
It was just made public in 72 and more priority was given.
First official test were done in 1983 while first nuclear device capable of being delivered was made ready in 1986-87 the time when historic warnining was issued by Zia
First official public test were done 15 years after the secret test in 1998.
