Muhammad the most common baby name in London

LONDON: In a sharp jump in just one year, Muhammad has emerged as the most common first name given to baby boys born in London in 2012. The name was also second most common among new born male babies across UK and Wales the same year-Harry being the most common second year in a row.

Interestingly in 2011, Daniel and Oliver were the top two names given to new born male children in London. Muhammad (spelt this way) was ranked third (658) in London with Mohammed (spelt like this) ranked as the eight commonest name in London given to 634 male children.

Across England and Wales, Harry and Amelia were the most popular first names given to babies maintaining the top spots from 2011.

In 2011, Mohammed (with this spelling) was ranked 19th most popular baby name while Muhammad (spelt this way) was ranked 22.

Over the total of 729,674 registered births in 2012 there were more than 28,000 different boys' names and over 36,000 different girls' names.

Interestingly three different spellings of the name Muhammad are listed in the top 100 names for boys.

The most common is Muhammad, which is in 19th place on the table. Mohammed comes 26th and Mohammad is in 60th place.

Overall the name was given 7,139 times in 2012, just 29 behind Harry-which took the top spot.

Despite this variation, those in each top 10 accounted for 13% of all given names.

Britain's Office for National Statistics (ONS) released the most popular first names for babies born in England and Wales in 2012 on Monday. In particular, it examined the 100 most popular first names for boys and for girls and compared the ranks of those names with the ranks in 2011 and 2002.

Experts say Asian names have become very common in London specially because of the city's swelling migrant population. Indians have become the largest foreign-born group in London. Nearly 9% of all foreign-born residents in London are now Indian.

In sheer numbers, this means 2.63 lakh persons born in India are now living in London.

London had about 3 million foreign-born residents in 2011 (37% of the total London population and 40% of the total foreign-born population of England and Wales).

London's foreign-born population increased by 54% since 2001, accounting for 105% of the total population increase, as the UK-born population decreased in the decade.

Moreover, London concentrates a large proportion (40%) of the entire foreign-born population of England and Wales.

Between 2001 and 2011, the total resident population of England and Wales increased by 14%, by about 1 million residents.

However, the UK-born population in London actually declined, by 1% (about 50,000 residents). This means that the entire growth of the London population can be accounted for the by increase in the number of residents that had been born outside of the UK.

ONS had looked at the top five non-UK born mothers' countries by number of births (Poland, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Nigeria).

GFRs for the UK show that women born in Pakistan have the highest fertility rates of the five individual maternal countries of birth examined, with around 180 births per thousand women in 2011, compared with around 60 births per thousand for UK born women. akistan:

The impact of non-UK born women on fertility is largest in London.

This is due to a high proportion of the childbearing age population in London being non-UK born, and lower UK born fertility in London than the UK average. This could also explain the higher number of Mohammad's being born.

Claims that immigration is economically beneficial for Britain have been destroyed by news that three-quarters of Pakistani and Bangladeshi children in the UK are being brought up in families that are living on poverty-level income. :coffee:

The report, issued by Millennium Cohort Study, which is tracking children born between 2000 and 2002, has found that 73 per cent of the Pakistani and Bangladeshi seven-year olds were in families estimated to be living on less than 60 per cent of the average national household income.

Just over half of the black children (51 percent) in the Millennium cohort were in such low-income families, compared with one in four white (26 percent) and Indian (25percent) children, said an official press release.

"Predictably, low income was strongly linked to joblessness among parents, say researchers at the Institute of Education, University of London, who collected information from almost 14,000 families in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland in 2008/9."

According to the report, among fathers, Pakistanis and Bangladeshis had the highest unemployment rate (15 percent) – well above the UK average of 6 per cent. Unemployment among black fathers was also high (11 percent) but Indians were less likely to be unemployed (4 percent) than whites (5.5 percent).

Almost two-thirds (64 percent) of white and Indian mothers had jobs :tup:, compared with half (52 percent) of black mothers and only 17 per cent of Pakistani and Bangladeshi mothers.

A much higher proportion of children in lone-parent families (63 percent) were living below the study's poverty line than those with married (16percent) or cohabiting (30 percent) parents.

"The incidence of income poverty for the Millennium cohort families has not changed appreciably over the first seven years of the children's lives," says Professor Heather Joshi, the study's director.

"Despite government efforts to eradicate child poverty almost three in 10 children are still in poor families at age 7. It's particularly disappointing that around one in five seven-year-olds is in severe poverty – on incomes below half the national average."

The findings appear in a report published today by the Institute of Education's Centre for Longitudinal Studies: Millennium Cohort Study, Fourth Survey: A User's Guide to Initial Findings. Copies of the report can be downloaded here.

The UK accounted for around 7% of annual remittances to Bangladesh in 2010 (about GBP 533 million) and about 10% of annual remittances to Pakistan during that year (about GBP 627 million)

Bangladesh and Pakistan occupy the seventh and eleventh positions respectively in terms of the global inflow of remittances.

Bangladeshi arrested in New York Fed bomb plot
October 18, 2012

A BANGLADESHI man with alleged al-Qa'ida links has been arrested in New York on charges of trying to use a 453kg bomb to destroy the city's Federal Reserve building.

Quazi Mohammad Rezwanul Ahsan Nafis, 21, was arrested in Manhattan after he tried to detonate what he thought was a live bomb, but was actually a dummy provided in a sting operation, federal prosecutors in Brooklyn said.

Nafis travelled to the US in January "for the purpose of conducting a terrorist attack on US soil", the federal prosecutor's office in Brooklyn said in a statement.

New York City Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said Nafis entered the US on a student visa.

"Nafis, who reported having overseas connections to al-Qa'ida, attempted to recruit individuals to form a terrorist cell inside the United States," the federal prosecutor's office in Brooklyn said.

"Nafis also actively sought out al-Qa'ida contacts within the United States to assist him in carrying out an attack. Unbeknownst to Nafis, one of the individuals he attempted to recruit was actually a source for the FBI."

Nafis allegedly wrote a statement claiming responsibility for his planned attack in which he said he wanted to "destroy America" and referred to slain al-Qa'ida founder Osama bin Laden as "beloved".

He has been charged with attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction and attempting to support al-Qa'ida.

FBI acting assistant director Mary Galligan said the attempt to "destroy a landmark building and kill or maim untold numbers of innocent bystanders is about as serious as the imagination can conjure".

But the suspect never posed an immediate risk because two people he thought were his accomplices "were actually an FBI source and an FBI undercover agent".

The Federal Reserve building, part of the network that makes up the US central bank, houses one of the world's largest gold deposits, consisting mostly of bullion belonging to other countries.

The criminal complaint alleges that Nafis had proposed several other possible targets, including the nearby New York Stock Exchange and an unnamed high-ranking US official.

The actual plot appeared to go forward smoothly for the alleged bomber, since every step of the way he was being helped by the undercover agents.

Early Wednesday, Nafis and an agent went by van to a warehouse in New York, prosecutors said, and the defendant said he was ready to do a suicide attack if his initial plan was thwarted.

He then assembled the bomb inside the van with phony explosives taken from the warehouse, the complaint says.

The agent and Nafis then drove to the New York Federal Reserve Bank, with Nafis finishing preparations to the fake bomb, while measures were taken among law enforcement bodies to make sure the vehicle was not stopped prematurely.

Once at the bank, Nafis recorded a "video statement to the American public" in which he allegedly said, "We will not stop until we attain victory or martyrdom."

Only then did Nafis discovered that his alleged bomb was a dud.

"Nafis then repeatedly, but unsuccessfully, attempted to detonate the bomb, which had been assembled using the inert explosives provided by the undercover agent," prosecutors said. He was arrested.

Loretta Lynch, US Attorney for the eastern district of New York, said: "The defendant came to this country intent on conducting a terrorist attack on US soil. The defendant thought he was striking a blow to the American economy. :ranger:

"He thought he was directing confederates and fellow believers. At every turn, he was wrong, and his extensive efforts to strike at the heart of the nation's financial system were foiled." :thumb:

Bangladeshi man sentenced to 30 years for New York Fed bomb plot

A judge sentenced a Bangladeshi man to 30 years in prison on Friday after he admitted that he intended to use a bomb in what U.S. authorities called a plot to blow up the New York Federal Reserve Bank.

Quazi Mohammad Rezwanul Ahsan Nafis, 22, who had pleaded guilty to the government's charge of "attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction" and faced life in prison, told the judge he now rejects radical Islam and apologized to the people of New York and the United States. Prosecutors had said Nafis had claimed on social media sites to have contacts with al Qaeda.

"I'm ashamed, I'm lost, I tried to do a terrible thing," said Nafis, who was arrested in October 2012 while trying to detonate what he believed to be a 1,000-pound bomb hidden in a van.

Instead, the van carried inert materials planted by an undercover FBI agent as part of a sting operation. Prosecutors said Nafis attempted to use a mobile phone to detonate the bogus device. :ranger:

Before handing down the sentence, Judge Carol Amon in U.S. District Court in Brooklyn said it was clear Nafis intended to go through with the plot in lower Manhattan.

"He continually dialed the cell phone number that he thought would explode the device," the judge said. Still, she said she was "prepared to accept that the remorse he had expressed is genuine."

Had Nafis been able to accomplish what he had set out to do, prosecutor James Loonam said, it would have been "a Boston Marathon style terrorist attack." In April, home-made bombs killed three people and injured 264 others near the marathon finish line.

Loonam asked the judge to punish Nafis within the federal sentencing guidelines of 30 years to life in prison.

The defense asked for a more lenient sentence of 20 years for Nafis, who wore khaki prison overalls and handcuffs.

He had a strict, isolated upbringing and his upper middle class parents sometimes beat him for failing to focus enough on his studies, once so severely he temporarily went mute when he was 6 years old, said his court-appointed defense lawyer Heidi Cesare. As a university student in Dhaka, Bangladesh, he got his first taste of freedom and became radicalized by other students, she said.

According to a criminal complaint unsealed in October, Nafis entered the United States in 2012 with a student visa, and eventually traveled to the New York City borough of Queens.

It said he scouted targets for a potential attack, including the New York Stock Exchange and President Barack Obama, settling eventually on the Federal Reserve Bank in Manhattan.

Nafis attempted to recruit others to his plot, and discussed his plans over social media sites such as Facebook, the complaint said. He claimed he was in contact with al Qaeda operatives overseas and actively sought out new al Qaeda connections in the United States, the complaint said.

One of the individuals he brought on board was an undercover agent working for the FBI, who monitored Nafis' activities and helped arm him with the inoperable explosives, federal authorities said. :ranger:

Zawahiri endorses war in Kashmir but says don't hit Hindus in 'Muslim lands'

London: Al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri has issued his first specific guidelines for jihad, urging restraint in attacking other Muslim sects and non-Muslims, and in starting conflicts in countries where jihadis might find a safe base to promote their ideas.

The document, published by the SITE monitoring service, provides a rare look at al-Qaeda's strategy 12 years after the September 11 attacks on the United States and the nature of its global ambitions from North Africa to the Caucasus to Kashmir.

Zawahiri endorsed the right of militants to fight Russians in the Caucasus, Indians in Kashmir and the Chinese in Xinjiang. He spelled out where conflict was inevitable, including Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Yemen and Somalia. :ranger:

In Pakistan, where he is believed to be hiding, Zawahiri said fighting "aims at creating a safe haven..., which can... be used as a launching pad for the struggle of establishing an Islamic system..." :ranger:

"Our struggle is a long one, and jihad is in need of safe bases," Zawahiri said in his "general guidelines for jihad" posted on jihadi forums.

While al-Qaeda's military aim remained to weaken the US and Israel, Zawahiri stressed the importance of "dawa", or missionary work, to spread its ideas.

"As far as targeting the proxies of America is concerned, it differs from place to place. The basic principle is to avoid entering into any conflict with them, except in the countries where confronting them becomes inevitable," he said.

They should also leave alone Christians, Hindus and Sikhs living in Muslim lands, respect the lives of women and children and refrain from targeting enemies in mosques, markets and gatherings where they mix with Muslims they were not fighting. :ranger:

Europe's Immigration Issues Coming Here

The U.S. news media, preoccupied with Obama administration scandals, gives scant coverage to events in England and Sweden, where crime waves led by Muslim immigrants bear similarities to those occurring in the United States.

In mid-May, both of these European countries were rocked by Muslim immigrant-led crimes. Politically correct U.S. news media and government officials have chosen to soft-pedal them.

On May 19, 2013, immigrant riots started in Sweden's capital, Stockholm, allegedly caused by the police shooting of a 69-year-old machete-wielding immigrant. In response, immigrants claimed that the Swedish people are "racists" and treat immigrants badly. Unemployment is the major complaint raised by immigrants, most of them from Africa and the Middle East.

During the past two decades, Sweden, known worldwide as a tolerant country, has received large numbers of Muslim émigrés. Sweden, although one of the wealthiest, stable, and permissive countries in the world, is experiencing Muslim uprisings.

In 2008, Muslim-sparked riots took place in the Swedish city of Malmo — racism was the excuse. Scholars studying the Muslim population in Sweden note that rapes in that country are the highest in Northern Europe. The country's Crime Prevention Council reported that Sweden had 46 rapes for 100,000 residents. The U.K. was a distant second with 23 rapes per 100,000 residents. :ranger:

The council also found that it is four times more likely that the rapist is born abroad than native born. Another study reported that 85 percent of the Swedish rapes were by foreign-born persons.

Malmo, in the near future, is likely to become the first Scandinavian city to have a Muslim majority. Already the city leads the country in crime. Studies postulate that the Koran permits rapes of non-Muslim women, and Swedish reports indicate that the majority of rapists are from Africa and the Middle East.

In 2010, it was reported that Jews were being driven from Malmo by Muslim violence. Again, little or no news coverage of these religious/ethnic-based crimes was made either in the United States or Europe.

Swedish citizens are voicing their objections. They complain that Swedish immigration laws are outdated. Sweden's tolerant laws are allowing Islamic immigrants to overrun the country and force their culture, religion, and beliefs on the people. Muslims now make up the majority of criminals. Muslims have not assimilated but push their idea of Shariah (Islamic law) on a permissive and secular Swedish population.

One Swedish citizen commented that Muslim countries do not permit any Christian or other non-Muslim religions. Swedish natives, who are finding that multiculturalism doesn't work, say "This is our country, not yours!"

The U.K. is experiencing similar problems. On May 22, 2013, England suffered a blow to its nationhood, when two allegedly British-born men of Nigeria descent in mid-day in London's Woolwich section, brutally killed a British soldier with a machete/meat cleaver and knife and wounded two others. One witness alleges that the men were attempting to take organs from the dead man.

One of the killers, photographed by a video camera, calmly said they wanted "to start a war in London tonight," among other rants. He also reportedly said, "Allah Akbar. We swear by Almighty Allah we will never stop fighting you."

Most British officials, including the leftist mayor of London and the prime minister, immediately labeled the violence a terrorist attack. However, a columnist for the liberal Manchester Guardian questioned whether violence on a U.K. soldier was a terrorist act, as the U.S. and U.K. were committing violence on Muslims, especially civilians. The columnist appeared to be legitimizing the violence as part of the Muslim murderer's "eye for an eye" rant.

The columnist, who also opined that Major Nidal Hasan, the Fort Hood Muslim shooter, wasn't a terrorist, may believe, like President Obama, that it was merely "workplace violence."

The columnist mistakenly suggested that U.S. President Ronald Reagan abetted in the killing of civilians in El Salvador with his support of the Contras. Some in the news media either flunked logic class or did not take it in school. Along with the Guardian columnist, a radical Muslim preacher in England blamed the Woolwich attacks on the prime minister and the U.K. for their Afghanistan actions.

Many British complain that 40 percent of Londoners are foreign born, and a majority of those are Muslims. The Brits, like their Swedish compatriots, blame lax immigration laws, multiculturalism, and political correctness for increased crime and the loss of national ethos, mores, and society.

Meanwhile, in the United States, recent bombings and attempted bombings by Muslim immigrants must give members of Congress pause as they seek to craft a comprehensive immigration reform bill.

Naturalization requirements and detailed vetting of all applicants for U.S. visas and citizenship are essential. U.S. citizens do not want to hear yet another Muslim immigrant testify in court that he lied when taking the citizenship oath — as the Times Square attempted bomber did.

It is high time, in the aftermath of Fort Hood, Bengazi, Boston, and the London butchery, for the United States to grasp the realities of today's world.

Used to be, vaguely, concerned for your well being and was disappointed (particularly on that other forum where I no longer post) by the people enabling your insanity by taking you seriously.

But, when you admitted you stopped taking the medication the Australian psychiatrist had prescribed you, due to your paranoid delusions, it became clear that you're A) beyond help and B ) don't care.

Employers discrimination or general discrimination is not done on the basis of religion but on the basis of race . As the some European nations still believes in 4 races system and they don't give a heck about nationality . But with the growing military and financial status of third world countries on official level the administration follows the International norms but on the ground level , people continue with their racist attitude and the biggest thing is this that people from these countries only are spreading all over the world and even settling but they wont let people of other nations to come into their lands .

People who do immigration and enter Western states , they enter in terms of Nationality not on the name of religion . And racism is not done on the basis of religion but on the skin color .

How Immigration Has Impoverished Britain?

75% of Pakistani and Bangladeshi Children "Live in Poverty"

Claims that immigration is economically beneficial for Britain have been destroyed by news that three-quarters of Pakistani and Bangladeshi children in the UK are being brought up in families that are living on poverty-level income. :ranger:

The report, issued by Millennium Cohort Study, which is tracking children born between 2000 and 2002, has found that 73 per cent of the Pakistani and Bangladeshi seven-year olds were in families estimated to be living on less than 60 per cent of the average national household income.

Just over half of the black children (51 percent) in the Millennium cohort were in such low-income families, compared with one in four white (26 percent) and Indian (25percent) children, said an official press release.

"Predictably, low income was strongly linked to joblessness among parents, say researchers at the Institute of Education, University of London, who collected information from almost 14,000 families in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland in 2008/9."

According to the report, among fathers, Pakistanis and Bangladeshis had the highest unemployment rate (15 percent) – well above the UK average of 6 per cent. Unemployment among black fathers was also high (11 percent) but Indians were less likely to be unemployed (4 percent) than whites (5.5 percent).

Almost two-thirds (64 percent) of white and Indian mothers had jobs :tup:, compared with half (52 percent) of black mothers and only 17 per cent of Pakistani and Bangladeshi mothers.

A much higher proportion of children in lone-parent families (63 percent) were living below the study's poverty line than those with married (16percent) or cohabiting (30 percent) parents.

"The incidence of income poverty for the Millennium cohort families has not changed appreciably over the first seven years of the children's lives," says Professor Heather Joshi, the study's director.

"Despite government efforts to eradicate child poverty almost three in 10 children are still in poor families at age 7. It's particularly disappointing that around one in five seven-year-olds is in severe poverty – on incomes below half the national average."

The findings appear in a report published today by the Institute of Education's Centre for Longitudinal Studies: Millennium Cohort Study, Fourth Survey: A User's Guide to Initial Findings. Copies of the report can be downloaded here.
