Dutch F-16 mistakenly strafes range control tower

Dutch F-16 mistakenly strafes range control tower. And it's not the first time.​

On Nov. 4, a Dutch F-16 strafed a control tower on Vlieland Island Vliehors shooting range by mistake. It was not the first time such incident occurred.

The plane was to attack a target located within the shooting range with its M61 Vulcan cannon but, in an unfortunate incident, the rounds hit a control tower, located 500 meters further. Fortunately the controllers in the tower were unharmed. The tower itself though did receive some damage.

The reason for the incident is unknown and a special commision will gather to investigate.

This is the second time that a friendly fire incident happened in Vliehors.

Back in 2001, a German Tornado did shoot at the control tower in very similar circumstances. Back in 1998, a Danish F-16 even sent a guided missile into the tower. Fortunately just one person was mildly injured.

No information on the RNlAF F-16 involved is available. The Dutch Vipers are stationed in Volkel and Leeuwarden bases. Since the latter one is undergoing some works, the local F-16s were relocated to the southern airbase.

This is the most helarious thing I have ever come across in life. How can a pilot that too a fighter pilot be so blind that he can't make out the target from control tower. In every Indian air to grnd range, we have a fail proof system wherein the Range Safety Officer(RSO) clears the aircraft for live fire after ensuring that He is alighned with the target, is correct on his dive path and weapon fired by him will stay within the safety zone of the range. No pilot can fire unless cleared by RSO,"Clear Live".
In Goa, IN has carvalossism range for air to ground weapon firing. I have seen guys fire completety into stupidity into the sea which was good about 300 yards up from the range but never seen anyone fire on the control tower.
every pilot of the sqn was posted to do the duty of RSO on rotation basis in IN. We used to be dropped & picked to/from the range by Helo and to have some fun, we used to fly really low over beaches in Goa and watch the naked women swimmers on nudists beaches.

helicopter pilots can really fly low. INAS-321 Flight based in Goa used to provide us this ride. Those guys cud really fly low at just 10-15 ft at about 80 kts. Chetak has good all round visibility and especially below so that made it even more fun.

I agree with @gadeshi Europeans need to re evaluate their society, 3rd world immigration, Homosexuality and Political correctness will eventually wipe out Europeans.

It is like this- Low birth rate fueled by Homosexuality>less kids>population decline>lack in work force>Try to cover it by bringing 3rd world immigrants who are new>they will cause problems with natives>when natives will react then political correctness and ultraliberalism will stop them>extinction of Europeans.

So no immigration to Europe, no Multiculturalism in Europe, no Homosexuality in Europe.
