yep, previous many important missiles were tested on thursdays ..

mostly in mornings .. we will see how it goes this time
interesting, lets hope they pay more attention to science, rather then astrology.

not only astrology, may be we have better satellite coverage on that day, less air & sea traffic etc

btw i hope missile to be tested tomorrow rather than getting postponed :scared2:

India to test ballistic missile interceptor Friday

India is preparing to test a ballistic missile interceptor from a defence base in Odisha on Friday, an official said Thursday.

The indigenous Advanced Air Defence (AAD) interceptor missile would be fired from Wheeler Island off the coast near Dhamra in Bhadrak district and kill an incoming ballistic missile to be launched from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur-on-sea in Balasore.

"The test is likely to be conducted during the morning hour. It is a developmental trial," a defence scientist involved in the exercise told IANS.

The Friday test would be conducted for endo-atmospheric interception in which the interceptor reaches its target within the earth atmosphere.

India is developing the interceptors which have been successfully tested several times in the past, to provide air-shield to important Indian cities against hostile attacks.

The preparations are underway for the launch at both the sites. senior defence scientists, including V.K. Saraswat, the Chief of Defence Research and Development Organisation and the scientific advisor to Defence Minister A.K. Antony, have already arrived to oversee the launch.

During the exercise, a modified surface-to-surface Prithvi missile would act as a hostile target which would be lifted off from ITR at Chandipur-on-sea, about 230 km from Bhubaneswar. The interceptor missile would be launched from Wheeler Island, about 70 km across sea from Chandipur to destroy the target.

I dont got satellite part, as far as aero space and sea lanes are concern prior notice is given and traffic is keep off that area.
Whole thing happen in few minutes, so what is use of satellite feed, plus we already tested prithvi for 75-80 times so we have enough data through satellite to see its launch.

Lets see the results. :dude:
we had a common discussions for last 4-5 years that Indian Missile Defence program is of quite advanced level, more advanced than even of Israelis........ but we also got a news that India has already got around 6 regiments+ of S-400 by 2012, in the same way as S-300 which was never disclosed, for security reason so that they won't have to disclose the actual locations of these layers of air defence. we heard that India has at least 2 layers of missile defence on its key locations... even S-300 has been in fact taken out from the key areas, they were positioned since 1999, to the less important locations to date, we heard.....

When Russia didnt disclose this info in their export of arms report to UN agency, that means they never sold it and we too have not disclose this info in the import of arms to UN agency. Even through we have paid very high price for our AC, lets put these things to rest.

Our BMD is advance enough for our insane enemy.

I hope this is true but if we look at our history its often hard to imagine if India is so serious specially in acquiring and implementing Defense Systems. All we usually hear is delayed processes.

But it might be true that India is downplaying what it has got when its neighbor exaggerate what it has got. Agni-5 is an clear example how India downplayed its correct range.

Sir I tell you a logical thing, that, if India doesn't have any 'disclosed' Missile Defence then they would certainly go for S-400, which has been rated as the best missile defence on many defence platform. I mean, there would be a good reason, why India won't have S-400 which was offered to India since beginning, if they dont have anything else of this type. and we do know the history of Indo-Russia contracts, key deals were always hidden, whether of S-300 itself or Nuclear Submarines etc, :thumb:

Real time trial of interceptor and simulated missiles

Novel mission to be launched on November 23
The interceptor missile launch scheduled for November 23 from the Wheeler Island off the Odisha coast will be a novel mission. It will feature an electronically simulated attacker missile coming from a distance of 2,000 km and also a real missile launched from Chandipur in Odisha.

While no interceptor will be fired against the imaginary attacker everything will be simulated up to T minus zero second as if commands were given to bring it down. A real interceptor will take off from the Wheeler Island to bring down the actual missile launched from Chandipur. This interceptor will pounce on the real attacker at a height of 15 km to 16 km in what is called the endo-atomosphere. "This is the first time we will be testing a scenario in real time where everything will be done as if we are launching a missile against an electronic target missile and launch in parallel an actual missile against a real target missile," said Avinash Chander, Chief Controller (Missiles and Strategic Systems), Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The simulated and the real scenarios would be running in parallel. Since no distance of 2,000 km was available in the country from where a real missile, simulating the trajectory of an enemy missile, could be launched, it would be a simulated missile, he added. Two radars will process the simulated and real missiles and assign the launchers to take care of them.

"The Mission Control Centre will process the two missiles and identify in real time which launcher is best suited to fire its missile against which target. Since one of the two attackers is an imaginary [electronically simulated] missile, we will not be firing a missile against that. But we will be going to the point of firing up to T-0," Mr. Chander said.

The missile trial on November 23 aimed at "a deployable configuration" to intercept multiple adversarial missiles raining down on India. "We are not able to launch live targets simultaneously because of the limitations of range and geometry. That is, since distances are not available, we are not able to fire two target missiles simultaneously," he explained.

Mr. Chander said: "In a real scenario, multiple ballistic missiles may be coming towards India which need to be handled. Our radars can track more than 200 missiles simultaneously. When multiple launchers are deployed, they can handle multiple missiles fired at us. We should be able to track them, process the signals, identify which is a threat and assign the specific launcher-missile that is best suited to intercept them. So far all our interceptor flight-trials have been one missile against one target "¦ So the forthcoming interceptor mission would give the DRDO team a lot of confidence to simultaneously handle multiple targets." The DRDO was trying to get a floating test range [ship], and radars and launchers would be based on that vessel, he said.

How reliable is the source ? When are we going to real test ? Any timeframe ?

India eyes Israel's Iron Dome to counter Pak, puppets - The Times of India
~
One of the reasons why some Indian defence planners is pushing for it is the possibility of another conflict with Pakistan, where a system like the Iron Dome might be useful to deter evenconventional artillery attacks. In addition, Pakistan has developed a tactical nuclear weapon like the Nasr, which is a solid fuelled battlefield range ballistic missile. While Pakistani analysts say this was developed in anticipationof India's supposed Cold Startdoctrine, some Indian sourcessay the Iron Dome might be an effective deterrent against this new weapon.

not good place to discuss this, but what will happen if NSAR with nukes, i doubt it can carry one is fired and we intercept it and their nuke goes waste and radio active marteial is scattered how small area it may, what will be our response ???
