What do the BSF do with artillery or even with tanks are they going to patrol the Indo-Pak boarder with Arjuns?

They have arty and they have an AF and a Water Wing (my Uncle was raised that unit!)

In 1971 War, they had 4.2 inch mortars and the ammunition was never tested by their chaps as we do with MARS every year.

I, in the forward post, ordered the 4.2 in of the BSF to fire.

One round fell on the mule shed of my own company and burst! The mules took off!

The next round fell on the company commander's bunker and was a dud.

I was frantically rung up and told to stop showing my skills as the Mor OP!

The BSF has about 200 arty guns, which included 3.7 in howitzers and 25 Pounders.

This makes about 11 arty regiments or about 33 fire units.

Since 3.7 in and 25 Pounders have become obsolete, these would have been replaced by 105 mm gun howitzers.

BSF can have these not Arjun or T-72M1 as they are defensive force for Border guarding duties..

This BMP based 105mm share same ammo so does spares for 105mm and BMP is easy to maintain compare to bigger tanks..

They don't need LCA but large number of Coin attack Helos and Tubro props..

Yes similar to US Marine Corps , but Army & Airforce will block this kind of arrangements siting duplication in operation

Those 25 ponders should be sent to a museum. It was a nice gun in 1942 but even Luxembourg or Bermuda have retired them long ago.
