Djibouti The superpowers’ playground Everyone wants a piece of Djibouti. It’s all about the bases @Illusive @amoy @Martian @Gabriel92 @Cadian I never noticed strategic aspects of Djibouti at such level before. Please, post updates about your respective country's strategy here if any update.

World's dependency on oil will be much reduced. So, I don't guess mid east gonna remain important for long. Moreover, ME's migrants are taking care of Europeans very well that they can't forget in their dreams.
It seems the new Chinese presence is a bit overhyped . Djibouti is the vital node for US operations in the Horn of Africa and Yemen. France will maintain a 1,300 men strong military presence after 2017. One thing the article does not mention about Djibouti is their well known massive addiction to a local drug named Khat
Think Djibouti isn't in middle east but still between India-Australia to EU trade route, that cant be changed so it will remain important & it's importance is going to increase day by day.
No, Djibouti is in middle east, I wanted to tell that it holds it's importance not only because of it's only energy supply route but also on important trade route & that is going to increase despite less dependence on middle east on energy.
Don't conclude too soon. Djibouti is a very poor country. They will change their way anytime for finance. Game has just started.
It will end before it even starts US and Middle East allies will win. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
KSA taking over 2 Islands from the Egyptians point out the importance they have for this region. Americans will be in no hurry to roll over and let the Chinese step in. USN will be dedicating almost 60% of their naval assets in the IOR and that says a lot.
