Having travelled to many international destinations, I can say that T3 is up there with the best airports in the world including Singapore Changi, Kansia International Airport, Osaka; Dubai International Airport, Suvarnabhumi, Bangkok etc.

Of course there's scope for improvement-
- Connectivity between T3 and other terminals for instance. It would be far better to have that being provided by a Metro link, separate from the Airport express. This link can supplement the airport express by linking the T1/T3 to other key stations in the Metro network such as CP, Medical etc. The passengers can then take Metro connections to their eventual destination. I believe this may be on the cards with the airport being connected to Dwarka, but not sure if that's the extension of the Dwarka-Brakhamba-Noida line or Airport express line. Either way it doesn't really solve the problem of T1-T3 connectivity. The situation will be compunded once new terminals T4 and T5 come up as planned.

- In the coming years there will be far more passengers with personal laptops. The terminals need more electric sockets for travellers to plug in their laptops. Something akin to one plug point per seat. As of now this is not the case. But then to be fair it's pretty much the same for the airports in the other countries that I have seen.

- Shopping and commercial services: In most places around the world the prices for food etc inside the airport kiosks does not significantly differ from comparable outlets outside the airport. This is somethign that T3 should carefully address, air travellers are pretty squeezed lot and they do not appreciate being fleeced in transit.

I said how long will they be??? that is the Q...India's record of maintaining things are very bad..
Both are privatized and maintained by corporates. They have to maintain well if they have to earn their money.

A major tragedy on the eve of Delhi T3's first anniversary.
Chaos at Delhi's IGI T-3 due to power outage

NEW DELHI: Operations at the Terminal 3 (T3) of the Indira Gandhi International Airport were affected for almost four hours due to disruption in power supply leading to delay of over 40 flights early this morning.

The T3 which completed its first anniversary this July remained in virtual darkness between 0125 AM to 0545 AM, official sources said, adding this led to the delay in schedules of most of the international flights arriving and departing from the IGI Airport.

"On August 07, due to a fault at a power sub-station the power supply was disrupted at T3 between 0125 hours to 0545 hours. However, the power supply was fully resumed at 0546 hours," a DIAL spokesperson said.

Due to the power disruption, check-in and baggage handling system were affected forcing airline people to do the check-in manually.

Even heavy generators, which have been installed as a back-up for such emergencies, could not provide power supply.

Aviation Ministry sets up panel to probe T3 blackout

Initial Investigation; Transformer tripped plunging the terminal into darkness, back-up affected by sparking in main duct
The four-hour power cut at the Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport has been termed as "gross mechanical failure" by operator Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) and the Civil Aviation Ministry has set up a five-member committee to probe the incident.
Day after blackout, CISF wants security revamp

Calling Sunday morning's four-and-a-half-hour power failure at the IGI Airport a "freak occurrence", CISF director general N R Das said it was unacceptable that the airport was ill-prepared to handle such a contingency.
DIAL to set up independent technical panel to probe T3 power outage

"The civil aviation ministry wanted it to be reviewed by a third-party technical committee," said an airport source, requesting anonymity. Preliminary investigations by DIAL indicate the tripping was due to a rare technical fault — an extremely rare occurrence.
