Boeing's ploy of tying up with Mahindra and HAL (possibly converting Nashik to produce F-18s) is a masterstroke. Dassault has to now provide more than "the costs will be cheaper and you have already made infra changes at 2 bases"... interesting times ahead.

About the M777. They are pitching for M777 ER 52cal variants with Mahindra. Maybe that's why?
It will end up being their downfall, remember how HAL quoted 2.7x the amount for a HAL made Rafale compared to a DA made Rafale?

HAL is a major aerospace power in its own right, will it accept being told what to do by Boeing? JVs with junior partners like TASL, RIL, ADANI etc make sense as the foreign OEM will be able to dictate terms but HAL has a notoriously rigid way of working.

+ HAL Nasik has MLU/super upgrade (?) work for the next 15-20 years, it’s highly unlikely the Russians would allow the Americans to operate from there and vice Versa.

Check this out - DefExpo and the ongoing Ex Gagan Shakthi. (The WhAP 8X8 looks good!)

F-18 Super Hornet Block 3/4, anyone?

Also shown displayed at the exhibition is the M-777 How. 5 of them are being delivered in Sept 2018 and 60 per year ie, 3 regiments per year.

Boeing offered the most advanced F-18 ever developed (ASH) in mmrca 1.0 and it still failed, ASH remains an unfunded concept today.

If, like they say, MMRCA 2.0 has 95% commonality with the original RFI then Boeing we going to have to do a lot better than simply signing MOUs.

Ghatak stealth UCAV model.....................

View attachment 24404
Powered by a modified version of the Kaveri?? Any idea? I believe Dassault, the prime contractor of the the stealth UCAV Neuron program is helping by incorporating technologies from this project.

First flight of Dassault's full-scale technology demonstrator, Neuron in Jan 2012

Let me refresh your memory, ASH was offered after Boeing first offered Block 2 SH (this was the one which underwent trials). Block 3 at that time was largely unfunded. But with confirmed Kuwaiti and new USN orders for Block 3, it's all been funded, tested and good to go for trials in the timelines of MRCA-2. USN will also add around 80 new build Block 3 SH by 2022.

So on offer for MRCA-2.0 would be Block 3 SH with upgraded AESA, upgraded MAWS & RWR, IRST, new datalinks, Large Panel Display and F414 EPE engine, CFTs and stealth Pods. More so, the oldest block 2s in USN will also begin upgrade work to Block 3 with the SLEP contract in place. Combine that with over 99 engines ordered for LCA mk-2, being a frontrunner for IN's contest and F414 EPE being lead candiate to power the AMCA. You can expect stiff competition on this one.

So let's not BS when there is no need to.

Agreed bro, but in the Indian context!

Remember, Pratt & Whitney developed a more durable version of the F135 engine of GE/Rolls Royce, powering the F-35 that commenced as late as 2009. The 100th engine was delivered in 2013! They produced the first engine in < 2 years! However, needless to say, they have decades of experience behind them!!
P&W are legendary aircraft engine makers, they are at least 25 years ahead in engine tech than any other company in the world today. They know the in's and out of constructing a solid engine within time, because they have an indefinite cash flow machine ... the us military complex.

Sea based PRALAY??? Which ship would this even be based on?

IN really needs to invest in some >10k ton missile cruisers and have the thing brimming with Nirbhays, Brahmos etc. If recent Syrian strikes have proven one thing it is that these are the ideal missile launch platforms, for the same firepower of half a SQN of fighter bombers you only need 1 missile cruiser and for a SQN of modern fighter bombers you can have 2 such vessels.

Am bored of IN under arming their platforms, particuarly their frigates and destroyers, P-15B and P-17A are just as under-armed as their predecessors, this isn't progress. Both classes could carry at least 50% more firepower. For their sizes they really do look feeble, they are 80% of the size (and cost!) of the largest Western ships but carry at best 50-60% of the firepower.
I think the ship construction in modular right? If it's so then it's VLS can be expanded. r

That actually makes less sense, launch systems that postion from the horizontal to vertical only make sense above deck otherwise not below deck where they would take up SO much space, if there's such space below deck they could just be mounted in VLS and wouldn't need any horizontal stowing.
Just like Moskva class destroyer in the Russian fleet. It has slew of VLS but are fixed to it's port and starboard side.
