Sub-inspector Shiv Kumar Sharma alias Sonu, arrested for allegedly plotting a grenade attack at a police station in Doda, was working on a plan to kill the terrorists involved in beheading of two jawans along with Pak soldiers in Mendhar sector on January 1.
Sonu was shown the video clip of beheading of army personnel by his source Abdul Rashid, alias Abdullah, a top terrorist of Lashkar-e-Taiba who was involved in a number of killings and had surrendered before him in 2008, and was subsequently released on bail.
Sonu along with a head constable was arrested on Monday by the police after five accused arrested earlier had told the police that they were supplied arms and ammunition by Sonu to revive terrorism in the district.

According to sources, Abdullah, who was in regular touch with Sonu, had only recently in their secret meeting had shown him the video clip of beheading the soldiers.

"Sonu, who had killed about 70 terrorists individually, was incensed after seeing the video. He made it a point to kill them. As part of the plan, he asked Abdullah to bring the terrorists involved in the beheading incident to Doda district. He had planned to eliminate them here," said a source, wishing not to be named. The source had the video clip. Abdullah had demanded money for it to which Sonu agreed.

As part of the plan, Abdullah called his mentor Khubed, a top LeT terrorists operating across the border, to send some terrorists in the district to revive terrorism.

"Khubid told Abdullah that he first has to make some terrorist strikes to convince them that he is still active after which the terrorists can be send," said the source.

Sources said Abdullah had specifically asked for terrorist involved in beheading of Lance Naik Hemraj and Lance Naik Sudhakar Singh.

Abdullah had then activated his fellow workers who lobbed grenade at Thathri police station, about 250 km from Jammu, on April 28. The police had arrested five people in this connection.

"It's most likely that Sonu did not take his senior police officials in the loop and was thus a victim of internal rivalry, as this was going to be a big catch had the terrorists come here and then got killed," said a senior police official, wishing not to be named.

Sonu, who had been involved in many anti-terrorist operations, carries the reputation of being most daring officer with a strong network. He was personally praised by the then home minister LK Advani who had visited Doda in 1998 when terrorist had shot dead 25 people of a marriage party in the area.

The state unit of the BJP has decided to rake up this issue in national executive meeting of the party at Goa.

"He is being victimised. Inquiry should be held against those who were responsible for his arrest," said Sunil Sharma, BJP leader from Kishtwar and member of the youth wing of national executive.

Wait... so this supposedly anti-terrorist cop was giving terrorists guns and explosives to carry out attacks, in order to lure more terrorists to the area so he could kill them?

So much for 'peace and stability'.

One wonders why local voters simply didn't vote to rid themselves of this rogue in uniform.

Actually that grenade attack was 'unsuccessful'(on purpose), no casualties. His methods are borderline psychotic imo.

This guy's life is waiting to be made into a movie!
