yes exactly the brand Name of Boeing /Airbus is Important .....................people buy Apple Products just because of it's brand Name ..............................China is just providing cheap labors .

if Boeing & Airbus are available in comparable price then nobody (outside china ) will buy Chinese products .

and may be Donald trump will force all American companies to come out of China .

you are still not using Chinese Engines .....................

why this project was unsuccessful ?? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shanghai_Y-10
India will appreciate Chinese effort to build its own commercial jetliners someday, whether India buys Chinese planes or not.

Boeing or Airbus are willing to sell planes to India at a reasonable price only if Chinese succeed to compete them globally.

the most important high speed Taxi test(with the front gear lifting-off) before the maiden flight happened today...

How did they get the plane to Shanghai-Pudong? Or was it being assembled right there?
the earlier reply by nimo_cn may not be very precise...

yes, the facility near the Pudong Airport is the assembly line mainly...some parts/components are manufactured by the companies in Shanghai area, but much more other main parts of C919 come from almost all main Aircraft Manufacturers/Factories all over the nation(Chengdu, Haerbin, Hongdu, Xian, Shenyang, Nanchang...etc.). these parts are transported to shanghai by road ,water...

the COMAC headquarter near Pudong Airport... and the 5th runway is mainly for the test flies of new manufactured planes...this runway is scheduled to be ready in a couple of months...at this moment, the taxi test of C919 took place on the 4th runway. and the maiden flight would also happend here in 2-3 days...

that is for sure, it will fly.

starting in 2008, it only took Chinese 9 years to build a commercial airplane which is gonna be able to fly, I would like to say that is not so bad.

Should Boeing Worry as China Preps Jetliner for First Flight?

How this new aircraft will affect Boeing and Airbus ultimately depends on how quickly Comac can ramp up production once flight testing of the C919 is completed. Both companies expect to produce around 60 single-aisle planes a month within the next year or so, and a fair share of that production has been targeted for sale to Chinese carriers.

Airbus already has a final assembly plant for its A320 operating in China, and Boeing has developed plans to begin delivering 100 planes per year, beginning next year, from a Chinese assembly plant developed in cooperation with Comac. Airbus is also building a final assembly plant in China for its A330 dual-aisle plane. That plant is scheduled to open this September.

Airbus has said that China will need 5,400 new single-aisle planes over the next 20 years, and Boeing’s estimate is even higher: 6,330 new planes. For both companies, China’s expected demand represents about 23% of the total global market for single-aisles planes through 2035. Both companies also forecast global demand for around 28,000 new single-aisle planes through 2035.

At production rates of 60 a month, global demand could be filled by Boeing and Airbus, without any help from Comac. Any planes the Chinese maker builds and sells will only diminish sales from the two majors. As of last November, Comac reported 517 orders for the C919, but that could rise rapidly once production gets underway and delivery schedules are firmed up.

Is the C919 an existential threat to either Boeing or Airbus? Probably not. But Comac already has moved ahead with plans for a dual-aisle plane, the C929, illustrating just how serious the company — and the government, which owns Comac — are.

The competitive situation will take years to play out. But a third major player is about to enter the competition and that could change the rules and the outcome going forward.

The C919, the first large passenger aircraft designed and built by China, is seen during a high-speed taxiing test in Shanghai, east China, April 23, 2017.The C919 passed a fourth high-speed taxiing test in Shanghai on Sunday.

C919 to get airworthiness certification from Europe
ECNS App Download

A C919 aircraft is seen outside a hangar at the manufacturing base of Commercial Aircraft Corp of China in Shanghai. The country's homegrown passenger jet is likely to receive airworthiness certification from the European regulator, a key step to enter the Western market. (Xinhua)

China's homegrown passenger jet C919 is likely to receive airworthiness certification from the European aviation safety regulator, a key step for the narrow-body aircraft to enter the Western market, officials said yesterday.

Patrick Ky, executive director of the European Aviation Safety Agency, said at an inaugural session of an aviation safety conference in Shanghai yesterday that certifying the C919 was part of ongoing talks for a bilateral air safety agreement between the two regions.

The Civil Aviation Administration of China is conducting airworthiness tests on the C919, said Li Jian, deputy director of CAAC.

The airworthiness tests measure the aircraft's suitability for safe flight, and the airworthiness certificate is issued by the national aviation regulator.

Once the EASA certifies the C919's airworthiness, the single-aisle aircraft can be sold to European countries. China and the United States are also negotiating a bilateral airworthiness agreement, the CAAC has said.

The aircraft has completed 118 tests, including 21 taxiing tests, and is ready for its maiden flight, He Dongfeng, general manager of the Commercial Aircraft Corp of China, told the conference.

Shanghai Airport Authority said the plane's maiden flight is scheduled for early May.

The C919, with 168 seats and a range of 5,000 kilometers, will compete with the updated Airbus A320 and Boeing's new-generation 737.

China-made large amphibious aircraft finishes 1st glide test

An amphibious aircraft AG600 is displayed for the 11th China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition in Zhuhai, south China's Guangdong Province, Oct. 30, 2016. The AG600 is by far the world's largest amphibian aircraft, about the size of a Boeing 737. (Photo/Xinhua)

China's large amphibious aircraft AG600 on Saturday successfully conducted its first glide test in the southern Chinese city of Zhuhai as it is preparing for its maiden flight.

Other tests and check-ups are under way, according to the China Aviation Industry General Aircraft Co., Ltd.

Designed to be the world's largest amphibious aircraft, the 37-meter AG600, with a wingspan of 38.8 meters, has a maximum take-off weight of 53.5 tonnes. It can collect 12 tonnes of water in 20 seconds, and transport up to 370 tonnes of water on a single tank of fuel.

With excellent maneuverability and a relatively wide search scope range, the AG600 will be mainly used for maritime rescue, forest fire fighting, marine environment monitoring and protection.

Aviation Industry Corp. of China said in March that AG600 would embark on its maiden flight over land in late May and on water in the second half of 2017.

The aircraft developer has received orders for 17 AG600s.

Communist China wants to end Western monopoly and replace it with its own horrifying homogenous, communist corrupt imperialist bullying. That is the problem.

I think most Indians welcome sharing of the world stage by a greater range of powers, just that China wants to illegally occupy other people's territory like it has occupied Tibet. If China weren't supporting terrorism in India (Masood Azhar) or making claims on new territory every decade, most Indians would have nothing against China and would welcome it as a world power.

It is the small-heartedness, bullying and meanness of the CPC that is the problem.

kid, you should learn to seek common ground while reserving differences. countries like china and India share as much mutual interest as they have conflicts.

despite all the disagreements you have mentioned above, I think you may agree that monopoly by the sole west is not good. then a new player like China should be welcomed.

the sino indo relation is not a zero sum game yet, should we act like it is?

well, planes tend to crash, otherwise what is the point of buying insurance?

most fellows here are young. and it wont take infinity for us Chinese to develope a jetliner, after all C919 is not LCA or Arjun. I believe most of us will be able to witness if C919 is going to be a success or failure.

I read about Arjun from a Chinese magazine when i was in middle school, I believe it was 1999. the magazine was comparing arjun with AI khalid. on paper, arjun is a great tank, so the magazine was concerned that Pakistan army was going to face a big problem once arjun was put into service. 18 years has been past, and now I am in my 30, arjun has been proved to be a paper tiger.

10 years from now, we will see what happens to c919, therefore no rush to make a judgement.

We are so worthless why don't you guys put sanctions onto us and stop selling us your stuff ?

the date of scheduled maiden flight on 26th Apr was missed due to some reason ....errrrrrrrrr....'funny'.
it was pushed off to first third of this month...when it happens, I could tell that 'reason' then...LOL

-------------------------------

the AG600 will have 'TWO' maiden flights...one on the runway and another from the sea surface.. the first maiden flight on land will also happen in this month at Zhuhai Airport where the one of AVIC workshops located and is near the sea.

老师, I've spent many many years dealing with folks from PRC, so I know you people pretty well. I like China - the people on the street - the problem is that they are so deeply brainwashed by Communist filth that they have no political opinions of their own. They just swallow whatever the 五毛党 feeds them on a daily basis.

Monopoly by West is no good - of course, but Xi doesn't want a multi-polar world, he wants Chinese hegemony. It's a disgusting idea, it would be much worse than US hegemony: everything would be duller and of poorer quality and far less entertaining.

It's China and Xi making Indo-China relations into a zero-sum game. China is paranoid and covetous of our legitimate land. Maybe you should explain to your 同志 that we can all develop and grow together, and they don't have to be so small hearted that they think they must damage others to gain advantage, no?
