Chinese President Xi Jinping cancels trip to Pakistan amid political chaos in Islamabad

NEW DELHI: Chinese President Xi Jinping has cancelled his mid-September trip to Pakistan amid political chaos in Islamabad, in what could be a strong signal to Beijing's allweather friend that it must get its act together before hosting a big visit.

This would be music to India's ears which had long opposed clubbing of visits to India and Pakistan every time a Chinese President or premier came to the sub-continent. It is no secret that Delhi has strong reservations against the Sino-Pa ..

India - China relations mainly depends on mutual trust, economic and trade relations.

Nuclear support of China to Pakistan is one of the serious issues that will play a major role in defining bilateral relationship between India and China.

I donot think Xi Jingping visiting Pakistan or not makes any difference to India - China relations at this point.

China has already announced 34 Billion dollar investments ..... the signing of the agreements will be late it seems.

The visit is being rescheduled, not cancelled at all.

Its appropriate to say its a good decision cause you dont want to be dealing with a unstable govt. Is there going to be fresh election?

Forget the mutual trust part..... let it be an out and out economic relationship... everything weighed on the balance of cost benefit. South Asians need to grow beyond the pseudo ideological narratives like 'bhai bhai', panchasheel, thousand year old history etc.... look at what's there on ground now and evaluate any relationship on the basis of cost-benefit analysis.

From my personal pov it's good that Xi postponed his trip due to security concerns, it will give us more time to tackle this corrupt government. If China signs conttacts worth $32 billion with this administration, all local subcontracts will go to Nawaz' family and close friends.

It is still uncertain if the Goon League will be able to break the deadlock and find a workable solution with PTI/PAT.

This cancelling of visit has cost Pakistan Trillions of Billion Amrikan Dollars in Honor, Dignity and Investment.
So now Pakistan demand PRC to compensate them otherwise GoP will publish full front page adv. in Chinese newspapers to tell hole warld of this injustice and how Pakistan is in front line on War on Terror ...and how Pakistan is biggest sufferer of terrorism.

Pragmatism of PRC people can be gauged by asking them to describe the Paki and why they deal with them.

Added Later: perhaps they did not want Pakis to loose face and have experience to rely on such a attitude

http://www.nytimes.com/1989/05/16/world/gorbachev-meets-deng-in-beijing-protest-goes-on.html

In a major loss of face for the Chinese leadership, Monday's itinerary had to be repeatedly adjusted to avoid 150,000 students and spectators who took over Tiananmen Square. While Mr. Gorbachev, the Soviet leader, did not directly refer to the student demonstrations in his meeting on Monday with President Yang Shangkun, the entire day seemed to be an exotic dance in which the Chinese side tried to shield Mr. Gorbachev from the protesters. Cheers for Gorbachev

The demonstrations were doubly embarrassing for the Chinese leaders because of the obvious enthusiasm that many of the protesters felt for Mr. Gorbachev. Several had prepared banners in Russian hailing him as a great reformer, and a crowd of workers and bicyclists applauded when he drove past them on his way to the Great Hall of the People.

Mr. Gorbachev was to lay a wreath at a monument in the center of the square, but because of the crowds of protesters occupying the area, the Chinese Government canceled the event this morning.

Because of the demonstrations, the Chinese Government held its welcoming ceremony for Mr. Gorbachev at the airport, instead of on the edge of the square where the students gathered. Officials then had to drive Mr. Gorbachev by a back road to his guest house when students blocked the avenue that had been decked with Soviet and Chinese flags in preparation for Mr. Gorbachev's entry.

Later, the Chinese postponed the discussions between Mr. Gorbachev and President Yang by two hours, and then changed the site of his arrival at the Great Hall of the People from the main entrance first to a side door and then to a back door.

Xi prefers safety, stability and harmony which is the credo of Chinese totalitarian State.

Not one of that is happening in Pakistan.

It is in great turmoil than Uighuristan.

So, it is natural that Xi flee.
