Precisely my point: Sino-Islamic relations are complex and multifaceted. Sino-Pakistani relations are straightforward and mutually beneficial. Why is one set of relations a function of the other?

It's like saying that since both Iran and Saudi Arabia are Islamic countries, then when Iran makes pronouncements against America the US should vent its frustration on Saudi Arabia. It makes zero sense whatsoever for what happens in Indonesia to affect the beneficial partnership and mutual strategic interests of China's neighbor and friend.

Borders and Geography my friend. Chinese interest in Pakistan is regressive. It has absolutely nothing to do with Pakistan or Islam.
As long as Pakistan is everything anti-India, China will act as an ally.

I conclude, after reading this thread, that governments and politicians do not protect, defend, or in any way act as stewards of any faith. Governments and politicians exploit religion at almost every opportunity..

The interesting point missed out is that Saudis are Sunni and Iran is Shia.

The distrust and disgust they have for each other is historical over which is the standard bearer of true Islam! Very emotive an issue!

Therefore, it is no brainer that Saudis will take help for any country against Iran!

Religion is the greatest dividing factor in world history.

Ideal for exploitation by all vested interests be it the Govt or any other which wants to profit by fiddling in troubled waters!
