There is nothing unusual that 90% of the Shanghai’s women of child-bearing age were eligible for a second child under the change made in 2013, but that only 5% had applied. It is the yearning of the Chinese psyche to have money and luxuries that money can buy. Therefore, if one has more children, the money gets distributed at the cost of a good life. Further, the old values have practically vanished and that is why the Chinese education minister has told the Chinese to shun western values. The fact that Shandong had about 20% more men than women and many couples restricted to one child aborted female foetuses until they have a male baby has serious social ramification where homosexuality is rampant. Media, Identity, and Struggle in Twenty-First-Century China
So China has reversed the one child policy after coming to realise that Population is actually an asset and not a burden with correct economic policies(Read Capitalism) And here we have Indian geniuses thinking about taking away a basic Human right or a basic right of any living thing(right to reproduce) away to solve population "problem" There is a reason China is two decades ahead of these idiots in every field
The sociology professor is right, its too little, too late. China will pay the price for this silly policy.
We lagged behind them because of too much of socialism in India and still our old generation still enticed to it. Compared to Chinese, we Indians have preserved our cultural values is quite a better way.
i have to disagree, china may embrace western living standard(materlism) but they still keep its core culture value, chinese holiday, confusim, etc etc
Too much exaggeration Like South korea&Japan in that region,Chinese pop. also declining. West overcome this problem through immigration but east asian nations neither interested nor support huge inflow of immigrants.
What nonsense. What cultural ways? We dont even have the balls to assert this country's Hindu Origin. Atleast the Chinese assert their Confucian origin very frequently
That's not a good comparison, Chinese are just trying to recover their lost values after losing it during cultural revolution. Compare Taiwanese cultural values with that of Communist China, you will understand what I am referring to.
Again, how does Taiwan being better than PRC prove your point that India preserved its cultural value than China? Seriously? And As I said, the real PRC starts only after 1979, .ie after they started becoming sane(becoming capitalist), something we only partially started in 1991(Capitalism)
No, it is simply a reflection of the change of social wealth: when the whole society is in poverty, you better concentrate your resource on fewer children; when the society becomes richer, you certainly can afford more children without lowering down their living standard.
China requires children. The One child Policy has given rise to a period when there will be no young and able bodied people to flame their industry and economy, the same way it is in Europe. The One Child Policy was fine in the initial stages, but it should have been tempered with an eye on the future.
Non sense. If what you are saying is true, then the western nations should have higher TFR which should increase each year with their growing "social wealth". Despite what your CCP brainwashes you believe, "One child policy" actually hurt the Chinese economy. Your masters are recognising that now and that is the real reason for this policy reversal. But being a CCPian, you can continue to believe how your govt restricting what you do with your private parts is beneficial for you.:thumb:
Only fools will put Chin and Europe together to compare. They are in different development stage: Europe society and economy already matured while Chinese is still far from it. I guess someone just don't know how to argue but putting up "brainwash". Yes, you are right, it is China not India that has the largest number of malnourished Children in the world; It is also China not India that has only 70% literacy rate.
