Tsk Tsk so it is not based on some rip off european designs anymore? Indians just cant stick to one story, can you?

Anyway this is the whole article:

Chinese WZ-10 attack helicopter based on Kamov design
Dave Majumdar Las Vegas 8 hours ago

The Changhe Aircraft WZ-10 attack helicopter is based on a Russian design commissioned by the Chinese, Kamov's chief design engineer says.

In 1995, Kamov developed a preliminary design in the 6t weight class under a contract with the Chinese government, says Sergey Mikheev, Kamov's chief design engineer, speaking at the Heli-Expo trade show in Las Vegas, Nevada.

"Due to understandable reasons, this information was kept secret," he says.

The Project 941 design was not based on any Soviet-era attack helicopter project and was strictly designed for China's unique requirements, Mikheev says. "They gave us the desired weight, we discussed preliminary performance parameters, then we signed a contract and we fulfilled the contract," he says.

After Kamov completed the design, the Russian design bureau verified the design via testing. Kamov then delivered the design to China and the Project 941 concept was accepted by that country's government for further development, he says. Kamov did not participate in any further developmental work on the WZ-10, he insists.

Thereafter, to the country's credit, Mikheev says, the Chinese handled the rest of the developmental work. That includes the developmental prototypes and the operational aircraft that is currently in production for the Chinese military.

"So I wish success to the helicopter," Mikheev says.

Mikheev would not comment on the WZ-10's performance. "That is a question for the Chinese," he says. "I know what I have done."

If China pays Kamov for a design contract, then how can it be a copy of what not? Typical indian logics.

Why deny it? It's a preliminary design that didn't include any avionics, engines, rotor shaping, weapons, etc... it would be as if some Russian design bureau made a wind-tunnel mockup of the AMCA, and therefore, the AMCA was 'based' on a Russian design.

We never denied any help from anyone. We were open about it and have no qualms in accepting it. We took help on LCA from Israel, USA etc.

Why are people surprised? China has never made anything on its own. But they have copied well though the quality leaves a lot to be desired. They have just declared all their WZ-XX engines have failed and will spend 16 bil on trying to develop new ones. They could spend a part on russian designers and metallurgists.
NOODLES. Did i miss anything else?

1. India is not as rich as China, you people can only get money by bribe, but Chinese can get both bribe and national reward if producers claim it is indigenous.

2. you guys also did a lot, for example, Tata often sales some stuff and clams indigenous.

One can be women like your Avataar+money.
Selling attack helicopters would be a much better way to make money. By helping China to build one, Russians lost the last chance to earn money from Chinese in the future, which totally doesn't make sense.

Russians refused to sell attack helicopters to China for a very good reason, which is attack helicopters pose great threats to Russia's massive armoured forces deloyed along the Sino-Russia borders. To put it in a simple way, Russian don't want to see any attack helicopter in PLA's inventory at all. The magic of monet failed this time.

Chinese know Russians are not that vocal as any other nation would have been, even not sanctioning them for repeatedly doing copy right violation. Russians are comfortable with back door entry in China because they know Chinese has to bluff rest of the world and they understand their miseries.

All the denial displayed by Chinese when they are caught pants down is all because they will lose the face for rest of the claims they will make in future.

And dragging India into this thread is pure stupid, heck we even admitted that our first nuclear sub, which was most secretive plan ever was extensively helped by Russia.

The most funny part is that China wants an over night transformation into a technology super power without enduring the pain of achieving such goals.
