Chinese are "mongrels" & they "shoot their own people" says Australia MP Clive Palmer - BBC News


No difference to Australian economy since Chinese real estate is in decline and there will be no more purchases of raw materials like china did in their boom time. I feel the comments are well timed provocation from Australia.

Even so, I think it is not right to call any race 'mongrels'.

There are good and bad in all races!

However, it is silly of Australians, politicians or businessmen, to equate their apologies because of the economic effect it will have on Australia.

Misplaced and insincere at best.

The point at issue is whether calling the Chinese 'mongrels' is morally correct.

It is not.

Not sure if I'd agree with your, Srinivas, description of state of trade between China and Australia. But, this isn't a provocation from Australia. It's the opinion of an single Australian politician, who has little public support.

He's not a career politician, Palmer, and comments like this are quite out of place for an elected official. The word mongrel, when used by Australians, isn't overtly racist. It's not meant to imply mixed- race. A well directed bouncer, in cricket, or a vicious tackle in rugby, could be described as a mongrel.

However, speaking to an international it's an extremely stupid word to use. Even the Australian meaning of the word, if used to describe people, is racist as it's based on the assumption that dogs of mixed breed are more vicious that pedigree dogs.

Somewhat interesting, Palmer has alot of business links with China and can't imagine his Chinese partners appreciate these comments.

Off late China and Australia are exchanging words between them. I think this Palmer guy had bad experience with his Chinese partners.

Most of the Chinese companies are venturing into Australia, some of the business companies from Australia are in China in Real estate but that field is in crisis in China.

Australians are changing, but they have not changed that drastically that they will replace the white Australia philosophy for a pro China dispensation.

Unlike the Chinese whose whole life is money oriented, the Australians value and cherish their affinity with the Mother Country and their genetic heritage.

I don't hold it against them.

Umm... Every Australian govt., since forever, has been pro- US, while Australia has had some extremely anti Chinese governments. It was the previous, left wing, Australian government that allowed US Marines to be based in Australia and sold uranium to India which "will not" be used to allow India to produce more nuclear weapons aimed at Beijing. The "new, pro-US" govt. Australia has isn't particularly pro US, for an Australian prespective.

P.S. @apple had not "proudly" announced he is not Asian, nor has he ever used the term Mother Country, nor genetics. Well, maybe I've used the word geentic in regards to animals, or said something along the lines of black people can run fast due to their genetics

With the Australian economy and growth increasing tying itself to china you may seem an Australian society that balances itself between china and the Angloamero alliance.

the chinese increasingly NEED Australian materials and products, The close geographic location and the expanding chinese population in Australia you will see a softening attitude.

The US needs Australia in no way other than as a staging point for mil ops against china, south east asia or india

The lumpen lot are in the poor neighbourhood and the students cannot afford luxurious apartments.

It appears some indians especially the older ones want to see tens millions of indian lives extinguished to fight our fellow asian brothers in a war to extend subjugation of the asian people. Didnt indians follow anglos tongue to ass into battle during the opium wars to addict them to drugs or during the boxer rebellion. We've done enough to the east asians at the behest of anglos and completely lost our self respect.

I'm glad smart men like Mr Modi see all asians are to work together and regain the prosperity and stability our home continent had before euros especially anglos came to steal and pit them one against the other.

Absolutely true.

Before the influx of Asian immigrants, Australia do not have a limit on immigration since the majority of immigrants are from the "white" world. Suddenly, when more and more Asians entered Australia, they adopted immigration quotas and policies. Now its not about race, but it's about preserving the Australian culture and way of living.....meaning preserving white Anglo culture. And, they don't call that racism, what a joke.

There is certainly an element of race here with a minor influence of religion. Racism is not dead, it's called with a different term now.
