I think India is too soft a State to crack down on radicals, extremists.
In an effort to accomodate everyone, we've also got the habit of gulping non-sensical elements.

Tough approach of Chinese is good for them, considering the way of life they've set for themselves.
But focus should be on avoiding ideological disturbance. Going after trivial things like a beard is a bit too much.
