China will grow old befor it grows rich. Democgraphy is Chinas destiny. China is a ramshackle country that is very difficult to govern centrally and prone to periodic eruptions of internecine violence accompanied by death on a massive scale. Even today there are at least a 100 demostrations a day some where in China.
The Communist stay in power through a simple bargain with the people simply we will provide greater and greater levels of prosperity in exchange for a monopoly on poltical power and all the perks that come with that power.
Chinas economic growth unequaly shared,is based on scarce imported resources at the same time its workers are being rended obsolesecent by technological advances.
The problem China has is a younger generation with expectations much higher expectations than their parents while their value is declining. The fact that young men out number women is going to add to their frustrations. For China its going to be the best of times and the worst of times.
