Prosperous Bangladesh ==less migration into India.
Better infrastructure in BD== more trade with India.
More Chinese money== Bangladesh can start new projects with its own money that India can stake into.

It can become Indias gateway to ASEAN .

Meanwhile they will keep hanging Islamic terrorists traitors with chinese made ropes:biggrin2:
During past few decades relationship between India and Bangladesh has been on a positive trajectory and I see no reason why will there be any change in near future.

Development of India's NE states will get a boost if Bangladesh draws more investment particularly into infrastructure sectors and trade volume improves. But Bangladesh must be careful to avoid a loan trap (remember Sri Lanka?).

China's investment in Bangladesh is a good news for India as long as it doesn't violate our territorial claims or doesn't have strategic angle (e.g. China getting exclusive rights to Bangladeshi ports etc), which seems to be the case.

Aside from annoying Pakistani nationalist trolls trying to get a kick out of an Indian "defeat" in Bangladesh (a country they don't really care about and plundered, oppressed and then genocided) we need to look at things from a wider global context.

1. This is one Asian country (China) investing billions in to another Asian country (Bangladesh). This is a win-win for these 2 Asian nations and in addition their mutual neighbour India. Asian progress and development is good and helps us secure our place against outsiders such as the EU, USA etc.

2. Aside from geo-strategic issues with China e.g. Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh, Indian Ocean, South China sea etc, India has to deal with other wider global issues and has to ensure that the west is not too dominant or at the very least respects India. A case in point are the two Italian sailors that murdered Indian citizens. Now if India is stronger and can ensure white Europeans cannot go round killing Asians with impunity this is good news for all Asians/non-whites and brings greater equilibrium to the world order.

3. India's main issue with Bangladesh seems to have been an anti-Indian government working for Pakistani interests during the BNP-Jamaat period and a desire by India to stop that and to allow no repetition of such a thing e.g. Bangladeshi soil being used for Pakistani interests and to try and harm India.

The fact is at the top of the Bangladeshi elite are businessmen who are also politicians from both big parties, the BNP and Awami League, this is the actual ruling elite and are in some ways more powerful than Hasina or Khaleda. Some of these businessmen from rival parties are personal friends and even play gold with each other. If these businessmen see that the Bangladeshi economy is too integrated with India's and it is against our national interests to risk relations with India than even a future BNP government would probably not revert to its traditional anti-India positions.

Having said that I can't guarantee that and the BNP is in bed with Jamaat a fundamentally anti-Bangladeshi party so if they don't reform they should either stay out of power or fade in to obscurity, extinction as did the once great Liberal party of Gladstone, Lloyd George and others did in the UK.

I still don't understand Pakistani losers cherishing a bilateral between China and BD. These clown everyday wake up with a notion of seeing someone defeating and checkmating India for them.

It is a welcome news going by the face value of it that BD will be able to access more money which they are already spending on uplifting their people.

Like out PM Modi during his visit to BD categorically mentioned that BD getting prosperous help us as we cheer for you all the time.

Jihadi loser if he is a Pakistani, BDian or an Indian will remain a loser where ever you put him geographically. Indians (Including sane Indian Muslims) are more than happy to spanks their asses whenever they will itch for it.

I have meet few BD muslims in Australia and I have found them progressive, well grounded and pretty switched On, unlike Pakistani bigots who think they are born to play great Geo-political games without spending a penny.

Ironically their people getting killed in that game play are just the collateral damage.

You chump, it’s a simply loan to stabilize economy of Bangladesh, no one can counter CPEC a game changer considered by whole world, even your so called Chabahar Port is dysfunctional, and Iran is joining CPEC, and soon Bangladesh will after this loan. :bounce:

Prior to Bangladesh, Xi visited Cambodia. Chinese saved the Cambodian monarchy, and Cambodia has become a loyal ally of China, which has debunked every attempt within ASEAN against China.

Late King Sihanouk had ups and downs (American-supported coup, Khmer Rouge, and Vietnamese occupation) but always received Chinese hospitality. Most of his exile years were spent in China.

King Sihamoni welcomed Xi's visit and appreciated the profound friendship of the Chinese government and people towards Cambodian royal family as well as their great support to the country's economic and social development.

Now Cambodia economy is growing at 7% with influx of FDi of which Chinese rank no.1. This profound relationship exemplifies how Chinese have walked the talk of supporting the supporters through thick and thin. That would be true for Bangladeshis too.

China is the most popular country in Bangladesh and our best ally.

I don't think this will have any impact on our relationship with India. India has been our good friend for a long time. As a nation we would like to have good relation with all nation. China and India both financial super power in Asia hence it is important that we have a healthy relationship with both and I believe we do as well.

Pls go through the list of proposed railway lines. Its a blessing for Bangladesh as well as India. It will connect North -East states with West Bangal and rest of India by making only few kilometers of railways on its site. India will pay Bangladesh transit fees which will make the project viable and Bangladesh happy .India will save billions which it will have to use going through Assam. Its a dream situation for India.

LOL

Why are Pakistan-walas celebrating what is good news for India and the pro-India Hasina government and good news for India's north-east?

The Chinese are not stupid, they know that these Islamists/militants that Pakistan is using in Kashmir hate non-Muslims and would by extension hate "evil non-Muslim China" the way they hate "evil non-Muslim India". They know these Islamist militants in Kashmir would naturally support anti-Chinese Uighur separatists in western China.

By the way Islamists in general (around the world) have a problem with Bangladesh ideologically and aside from ideology they have a not-so-hidden racial hierarchy where Arabs/middle eastern & south west Asian Muslims are on the top and darker skinned Muslims like Bengalis are at the bottom, which is why I as a Muslim Bengali can relate to how the Chinese and Indians would be concerned with Islamist hatred for them, as Islamists hate us (Bengalis) too.

These idiots are clueless.

MEME:

Hasina snubs Pakistan over SAARC, calls it a terrorist state and BD says it will support India over Pakistan....

Hasina receives $24 billion from China.

These Pakistan-walas are celebrating Hasina getting $24 billion from China after Bangladesh refused to attend the SAARC conference in Pakistan, supported India on Kashmir.

LOL.

What will be the interest rates on these loans from china?
Not finalized yet, no official declaration of that, but one article says this:

The Chinese loan has an interest rate of two percent. Bangladesh had been pursuing the Chinese government to lower the interest rate to one percent.

However, in the talks during the Chinese president's visit, the rate of interest and other terms and conditions were not discussed, said an ERD official.

While lower interest rates should be welcomed, but the real take away of such mega projects is how much knowledge is transferred to the locals especially engineering know how. So that future projects are managed fully internally, which leads to savings and future expansions.

Basically it should not go the CPEC way, where even the workers are Chinese. Not much knowledge retained in Pakistan.
