They are the last govt which was formed by the WILL OF THE PEOPLE since they WERE ELECTED BY THE PEOPLE.
Just to refresh your memory beyond the propaganda of the Communist Party of China, on August 25, 1912, the Kuomintang was established at the Huguang Guild Hall in Beijing, where the Revolutionary Alliance and five smaller pro-revolution parties merged to contest the first national elections. Sun, the then Premier of the ROC, was chosen as the party chairman with Huang Xing as his deputy.
The most influential member of the party was the third ranking Song Jiaoren, who mobilized mass support from gentry and merchants for the KMT on a democratic socialist platform in favor of a constitutional parliamentary democracy. The party was opposed to constitutional monarchists and sought to check the power of Yuan. The Kuomintang won an overwhelming majority of the first National Assembly in December 1912.
The Communist Govt of China WERE NEVER ELECTED! Therefore, they INSTALLED THEMSELVES with THE POWER OF THE GUN! That is hardly the signature of being installed by the will of the people.
Therefore, the real Govt of China is the one which was elected and not the one which installed itself by Force and never had elections to check the peoples' will.
What is difficult to put China in its place by the US?

I am afraid raw power from barrel of gun will not be able to help China control over its smaller neighbors, international relations does not work in such a brute manner, if one wants to be great and acceptable then one have to be accommodating to its smaller neighbors and not to scare them by ramming their fishing boats and trawlers.
China is in a hurry to become a super power and does not have the patience to wait for its turn, China is hated by all its neighbors except North Korea & Pakistan. China will pay a price for its obstinate behavior and find itself isolated by its very neighbors.
