all those pictures were photoed in Beijing or the outskirt of Beijing.

Beijing in 1971....it was still a 3rd-world-like city.

Totally different from the Beijing of this decade. I must appreciate the extreme hard work of a common Chinese to bring up China upto that mark from where it can pose itself as a challenge for the western powers.

China could well remain that way if we don't have Den Xiaoping, a great leader with clear mind and long term prospect of China. I was born after 1971 but I still remember even in 1980 I was still not dressing better than the kids in these photos.

There appears some innocent happiness on the faces.

Just see those cute school children!

Maybe it looks a wee bit ancient, but then flashy skyscrapers may look nice and people wearing Doir and Guchhi and driving Mercedes and BMWs does not seem to project the 'soul' of the people. They all look so cosmetic.

The same applies to urban India too!

The beauty and feeling of being free in rural India always fascinates me, more than all the glitter and glitz of urban India.

But then that is my view and it need not be correct.

Though i disagree with most of what you said about China, i have to admit that you know more about China than many Indians. You must have read a lot about the historical events happened in LuShan Mountain.
