Now this is a serious question. If they have no one to run it, how they have built it in the first place!?

Buy reading some stuff it is less advanced (Fast is only passive) than it's competitor Arecibo (it is active can be used to detect near Earth astreoids.

By the way Americans are planning to shutdown the Arecibo, so that $ 8 million can be freed up to be used somewhere else.

The title is misleading.. it should say worlds largest radio telescope. In comparison to this 500m aperture, the worlds largest optical (single) telescope has an aperture of just 11 meters.

Radio telescopes are easier and far cheaper (per meter aperture) than optical telescopes.

its china...china have an army that doesnt know how to fight...they call them soldiers
china have an aircraft carrier which they dont know how to build or operate...still they say they made it themselves
china have made a jet which is not sure how it will fly even to the pilots who fly it..still they call it WORLDS BEST aircraft.
china have diplomats who doesnt know how to behave at international events...still the call them diplomats while others call them clowns.
china have diplomacy that doesnt offer anything but only takes and still they call it DIPLOMACY!!
china has a media which only reports what the CCP wants still they call it unbiased media.
the list goes on..
and now they have the worlds biggest telescope without an operator to handle it.

Thats what happen when you STEAL ..COPY and Make STUFF!!
china makes it but have no idea what it does or what to do with it!!

They have set the requirement to high , the leader of Chinese Academy of Science leader has said that the no of qualified candidates are less the 50 and no one will leave their present telescopes for this new one .

Radio telescopes aren't hard to build as compared to optical telescopes. Radio telescopes aren't any different from the satellite dish you have in your terrace to receive signals for your TV. Optical telescopes are a different story altogether. Grinding just one metre of mirror/Lens will take years and millions of $ in funding and immense expertise.

All you need is more money to build bigger radio telescopes . You don't need great expertise.

In reality this radio telescope

As I said before, optical telescopes however, is a completely different story. Not everyone can do it.

So to people who aren't familiar with telescopes, nothing extraordinary was done by china. All you need is invest a lot of money and land and you can come up with this too. No big deal. Properly using it however, is another question. Something that china is proving as we speak.

Sure enough . Make In India has been so successful that we import that too. :p

Partial list for just 2 months - just when Vijay Varghiya had given the call for boycott of chinese imports :p

So you're saying that building one is easy, but according to them operating it is hard(only 50 people in the world are able to qualify it).

I don't mean to criticize any one. But just look at this sense. "Building bike is easy, but difficult to operate it". First how all the checks related to building this had taken place. How does anyone knows that it will work perfectly fine!?

No matter what you say, it is lot more than a giant dish. Super computers to operate that thing. Frequency testing, recordings, analysing the data, everything else!? What happened to all of it!? Who tested it while building this thing!? China does operate nearly half a dozen radio telescopes, what makes FAST so special that it can be built, but not to operate!? I don't get the logic.

My strange theory:

I think some "X" country helped (might have lended their scientists) to build the dish and check it works perfectly. Before the operations/completion of the structure and it's 100% testing, clashes might have happened between China and "X" country. Thus resulting the "X" country to pull all it's resources.

Chinese might have completed the construction of FAST based on the blue prints, but they need someone to test it and teach operations to Chinese. That might be the reason why roughly 50 of 7 billion are qualified to do the job.

I also think that "X" country is America as they have lot of experience operating Arecibo.

My theory could be entirely wrong too.

Thus I rest my case.
