What made you think so? Its a 5.56 NATO round firing gun and it is one of the most abundant round after 7.62 AK round in world I think. 1B1 doesn't have a tailor made round as far as I know, or am I missing something in here?

Regionally, Indian source is the only one which produce such vast amount of 5.56mm, Its available to J&K police forces ..

1B1 can fire any 5.56mm round, But INSAS round are tailor made and cannot be used in any other weapon than 1B1 and LMG ..

Overall length is more 60mm v/s 57.4mm for SS109/M855/M193 etc. They can however be fired from X95s and INSAS Ball does fit in the X95 USGI magazine, but the round does cause some issues with cycling.

Their are change in design, Not sure its the magazine or OFB round ..

... BTW when you said this, it means we can't say for sure that the captured 1B1 were firing the tailor made rounds. It could have used to fire any POF manufactured 5.56 round.
