Jammu, Dec 09: Operation kindre was lanched by joint team of troops Delta Force based at Sohanda and Jammu & Kashmir Police, Gundoh busted a major Militant Hideout at Kindre Forest of Gundoh Tehsil, Doda District today and recovered a large quantity of arms, ammunition and other war like stores. The operation was conducted by Rashtriya Rifles, Sohanda, Jammu & Kashmir Police Gundoh, Doda and 42 SSB Battalion on a sepcific input about the hideout of erstwhile LeT militant group operating in the Chenab Valley. Kindre Forest had been the stronghold of LeT militants in the past. The Joint Teams recovered One x AK-56 Rifle, One x .303 Rifle, two x Chinese Pistols, one x Under Barrel Grenade Launcher, two x Hand Grenades, eleven x AK 56 Magazines, four x Chinese Pistol magazines, three x UBGL Grenades, eleven x Pistol rounds and huge quantitities of 7.62mm assorted rounds alongwith other sustenance stores.

A joint operation was launched by troops of Delta Force and JKP on specific information received about likelihood of a militant hideout in dense Kumet forest of Ramban district. After a massive search and combing operation in the area for over two days in extreme inclement weather conditions the hideout was busted. Huge cache of arms, ammunition and other war like stores recovered to included one AK 47 rifle with three magazines, two Chinese made pistols with four magazines, 169 rounds of AK 47, 53 rounds of 7.62 sniper ammunition, one IED, 50gm Plastic explosive, wire fuse, one hand held radio set, and other misc stores.

Not too long ago these items were caught before they get to NE terror groups. This include HMGs and RPGs with ammunition and IED explosives & Motars both in 81mm and 51mm ..

January 30: Three militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Dardpora, Lolab area of Kupwara, police said. Kupwara police along with 28 RR launched a cordon and search operation in Dardpora, Kupwara. During the search, the hiding militants fired upon the joint search party, the fire was retaliated which turned into encounter. Three militants were killed in the encounter. War like stores including 03 AK 47, 14 magazines, 465 rounds, one pistol, 02 pistol magazines, 25 pistol rounds, 06 radio sets, 04 GPS, 05 grenades, 03 pouches, 01 solar panel, 01 gas cylinder, gas Chula and 03 blankets were recovered from the encounter site.

@Kunal Biswas, I wish you had given the dates of capture of these weapons and ammo.

In the early 90s at the height of Kashmir 'insurgency' instigated by the Porkis, my battalion had killed 94 militants and captured 240 weapons of all types including AK-47s, GPMGs, UBGLs, pistols, and Swiss winter clothing, thousands of rounds of ammo including grenades etc and half a ton of explosives hidden in several Sintex tanks!! All this in the span of a year!

You may ask, how many terrorists captured? None! They were sent to Jannat, instead of handing them over to the police as these yahoos would be released before you could even bat an eye!

Unfortunately, there were no mobile phones in those days and thus couldn't take pictures of the on-going ops and captured weapons etc! But TV crews would invariably land up there and show it on local TV almost daily. Yes, we used to be out on ops almost daily come snow or sunshine! Many a time the incidents used to be shown on national TV too! The BBC interviewed us after we killed a well known terrorist leader Ashraf Dar of the HM in 1991 when more than 2 Lakh Kashmiris attended his janaza!!

Miss the action now! Man, those were the days!
