Russia has shown guts to put its neighbours in their place.First Georgia and now Ukraine.There are lots of similarities between India's and Russia's neighbours. Both are heavily dependent on their big neighbours , but flirt with enemies and oppurtunists when it suits them. Its high time we too followed Russia's footsteps in Srilanka and Maldives.Just as Russia uses the logic of safety of ethnic Russians in Crimea, we to should use the issue of Tamils' safety in Srilanka to the same end.

I don't think so , If Indra Gandhi had opted military invasion instead of LTTE insurgent option in 70's things might have happened

But majority of Srilankan population will oppose Indian agression & the International reaction will be negative & sanction will follow in big way.

In UN Russia has a bigger say being an permanent member , In case of India that is not the case

We should think of Azad kashmir , Gilgit & Baltisthan , Aksin chin instead of Sri lanka

There is no historic basis for India's claims to northern SL. We could instead open our borders with Sri Lanka, Nepal-style. It will solve both India's and SL's Tamil issues, without disturbing sovereignty.

We could, instead, bring Bangladesh into our fold. Our demographics can tolerate a shock now, it may not be able to do that 20 years into the future. Acceding Bangladesh, or even opening up borders with it, will greatly benefit our North Eastern states. There will be an exodus, from BD, but that should dissipate into other states fairly quickly.

If only Bangladesh can demonstrate that it's not going to be a Wahabi armpit, and believes in social progress, I'm all for reintegration with India. The recent clampdown on war-criminals masquerading as religious leaders is encouraging.

For arguement sake let us discuss this likely scenario

1 We can NOT annex entire Sri Lanka Even Russia has ONLY annexed Crimea and Nothing more

2 At the most we can take North Eastern part for re settling Tamil refugees

3 Now what happens next Will SL take it lying down

SL will immediately invite Chinese And Pakis to establish missile ; air and naval bases

And since we will be doing this for our Tamil brothers
we will have to face SIMILAR demands to give FREEDOM to Kashmiri Muslims

As they say what is good for the goose is good for the gander

So guys please dont ROCK the Boat
