The Fusil Automático Doble ("Dual Automatic Rifle") is a bullpup assault rifle chambered for the 5.56x45mm NATO round and offers low recoil, weight and volume while at the same time giving precision and adequate range in a single package. It is intended to be used by armored crews as a back-up weapon. The FAD was designed by Salomón Braga Lozo of SIMA Electronica, a division of the Peruvian state-owned SIMA.

FAD assault rifle - 5.56x45mm

Specifications:
Type: Bullpup Assault Rifle
Caliber: 5.56x45mm NATO
Weight: 7.94 lb (3.6 kg)
Length: 32.0 (81.4 cm)
Barrel Length: 20.0 in (50.8 cm)
Feed System: STANAG Magazines
(Source IMFDB)

This is a space-age design assault rifle from Peru. Apart from the aesthetic protrusions (I know they count zilch in a battle, but nevertheless), it has a slightly angled magazine feed. This is similar to the AN-94. Details on its usability are scarce.

PS: I am unable to post a link to the image.... does this happen to newbies..

- Kunal Biswas sir, with the bullpup having the action so close to the shooters head, does it cause an extra loud bang for the shooter's ear or jarr the head or direct heat to the side of the face when the shooter has their cheek on the butt (or, is that a no no for bullpups )

More or less same thing about the bang, bullpup is always better than traditional design in shooting and handling..

Except for the reduction in length and weight, in what other ways is it beneficial than the traditional design?

I belive since most of the weight is near the shoulder, there will be less drooping of the barrel for soldiers.

Very well balanced Rifle, As the most of the weight at shoulder Rifle is easy to hold straight longer than Traditional design also when fire its hardly moves compare to traditional design..

Must Watch this, He explained in very good details, Must watch it full >>

compatible with 7.62×54mm and 7.62×51mm shells, as well as with "advanced new ammunition currently developed by the Izhmash design-engineering center specialists.
new rifle is "compact and light," its weight being 4.5kg. It is currently undergoing comprehensive factory tests.
It is supposed to replace SVD

Although i a a big fan of Bullpup but here are some disadvantages of a bullpup layput----

Bullpup designs are mechanically more complex, requiring a long trigger linkage, and control system linkages. This seriously degrades both control feel, and reliability, and increases bulk and weight (there may be engineering solutions to this problem).

If current munitions infrastructure and laws allowed for electronic trigger, feed, and ignition systems, this would be a non issue, and the bullpups advantage may outweigh it's several disadvantages; but for now, that's not an option (also, electronic systems have their own issues).

If a bullpup has a catastrophic failure, instead of the explosion being six or eight inches in front of your eyes, it's right at your eyesocket, or touching your cheekbone or ear. The only good thing is, if the bolt flys back, it doesn't end up in your eye socket.

Most bullpups also eject hot brass, and vent hot gasses in the vicinity of your eyes and ears (some eject downward or forward, which is a better solution for a bullpup, if it's engineered properly).

Mag changes on most bullpups are slower (sometimes much slower) because they require more repositioning, that positioning can be awkward, and can be difficult to see (if necessary) without fully dismounting the rifle.

A conventional rifle allows you to see your mag changes, and is more easily maneuvered with your dominant hand, which makes mag changes easier in general.

More importantly a human being can naturally bring their hands together in the dark. As a basic design guideline, magwells should either be in your dominant hand, or just in front of it; because it is far more difficult to manipulate anything dexterously that is located behind your dominant hand.

Because of the positioning of the magazine (usually the part of a gun extending lowest) close to your shoulder when the weapon is mounted, bullpups can be difficult to fire while prone (though this is common with some other rifle designs as well).
