I think he was bumped by ISI if this is true. He would have been too much of a risk if caught alive by the US.

Afghan Taliban: not possible Mullah Omar is dead

An Afghan Taliban spokesman said Monday it was "not possible at all" that their leader Mullah Omar was dead

Islamabad: A senior Pakistani security official said on Monday he could not confirm a media report that Taliban leader Mullah Omar had been killed.

And an Afghan Taliban spokesman said Monday it was "not possible at all" that their leader Mullah Omar was dead, after an Afghan intelligence source said he had been killed in Pakistan.

"I am making queries," the official said, requesting anonymity. "I can't confirm it," the senior Pakistani security official said.
On Monday, Afghanistan's privately owned TOLO television reported Omar had been killed in Pakistan, while on the way from Quetta to North Waziristan. There was no immediate comment from the Taliban.

The Xinhua news agency reported earlier on Monday that Omar "was killed on way from Quetta to North Waziristan."

However, it did not provide details on how he was killed and by whom.

It quoted an Afghan security official as saying: "it is correct that Mullah Omar has been killed".

But he did not disclose details.

Mullah Omar 'disappears' from Pak hideout: Afghan official

KABUL: Afghanistan's intelligence services said Monday that Taliban leader Mullah Omar had "disappeared from his hideout" in Quetta, Pakistan, up to five days ago but could not confirm his death.

"We can confirm that he has been disappeared from his hideout in Quetta, Balochistan," said Nutfullah Mashal, spokesman for the National Directorate of Security.

"He has been disappeared from his location during the last four to five days," he added, speaking in English.

"So far we cannot confirm the killing of Mullah Omar officially."

Mashal was speaking at a news conference after an Afghan source speaking anonymously claimed Omar was dead, while another said he had been missing for 11 days.

Seeing the corpse is believing.

It could be another ploy towards "Mission Accomplished" ,and this time with more 'evidence' than when baccha Bush landed in combat overalls on the aircraft carrier and said the famous last words to eat crow!!

If this is at all true, then it purely smells the making of the ISI. Having caught pants down in the aftermath of the OBL raid, the ISI needed to down a figure-head to up the credibility in front of US and it's lawmakers. US intelligences so far had insisted that Mullah Omar was in Karachi.

Not one independent media is making verifiable claims about it other than the Afghan media. The Taliban has denied it. Just speculation as of now. Let's wait and watch.
