Biggest Indo-US military exercise in October

New Delhi: In a bid to enhance their military cooperation, India and US are going to hold their largest-ever exercise involving armoured elements in the first week of October near Jhansi.
"The exercise, which will see participation of over 300 troops each side, will be the biggest ever between the armies of the two countries as till now we were engaging each other in company level exercises in which around 100 soldiers from each side participated," army officials here said.
The over two-week-long exercise, officials said, would be held around Army's Armoured Corps Training Centre in Babina Cantonment near Jhansi.
This would be the second Indo-US military training exercise in the year after the first one took place in Belgaum in January this year.
"The war games in Belgaum this year were part of the series of exercises between the infantry elements of the two sides and was set up in a counter-insurgency environment and company level troops from both sides took part in them," they said.
The three services from both the countries have been engaging each other in different exercises in the last few years after the relations between the two countries started improving in the early part of the millennium.
