IMO Harbin the so called oriental Moscow [emoji1] is a better candidate city for winter olympiad. But did Harbin fail last time?
It may cost far less in Beijing on a positive note since most of facilities r ready made there, infra, stadiums, athlete residences etc.. Thus less investment is required supposedly.
Aside from promotion of sports and its spirit Olympics has been highly commericialized long since especially of the summer . Only that the winter ones may be a hard sale due to less popularity but things r changing.
Lots of top notched multinationals r bidding for olympic sponsorship. In the long run hosting olympics is able to break even and lucrative with the marketing of television rights, advertising and increased tourism etc. also taken into account.
Japan - hosting Olympics 4 times, 2 summer 2 winter
S. Korea - hosting 1 summer
Never take Olympics as merely fireworks for show!
