According to a high-level source in Beijing, key leaders in the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) Politburo have reached four points of consensus that will be announced on or around the 18th Party Congress. The tenor of the decision is that China will take the path of democracy. The news has been circulated hurriedly in Beijing.

According to the source, the four points of consensus are:

1. People from all walks of life, political parties, and social organizations should send representatives to form a preparatory committee for a new constitution. They will draft a new constitution that protects the rights of citizens to freely form associations and political parties.

2. It will be announced that the Chinese Communist Party has finished its historical mission as the ruling party. Party membership will need to be re-registered, with the free choice to re-enter the Party or leave it.

3. "June 4," Falun Gong, and all groups who have been wrongly persecuted in the process of devoting themselves to China's realization of democracy will be redressed and receive compensation.

4. The military will be nationalized.

The claim from the source cannot be verified, but it is said to be a matter of discussion among high-level leaders. The source also said that a democratic party has already been formed in the Beijing Academy of Sciences, and that over 30 scholars in the Academy have gotten involved in the movement, forming a "Chinese Scientists' Liberal Democratic Party."

The four points of consensus are supposed to be announced on or around the 18th Party Congress, according to the source. The congress is supposed to be held this fall, in October or November, though there have been rumors that it will be postponed amidst the current political uncertainty associated with Bo Xilai's downfall.

Shi Cangshan, an independent China analyst in Washington responded to the news: "The domino effect set off by the Wang Lijun incident is still going on, and the Party's behind-the-scenes operations are being exposed."

Shi said that the reason Party leaders would want to announce four consensuses such as the above is to take the initiative on its inevitable decline. "The group that has engaged in these massive persecutions of the Chinese people, including the persecution of Falun Gong, is being exposed, and this is deeply implicated with the demise of the CCP. Better that they take the initiative, which will benefit themselves and the world."

Why would they, when communism is so damn profitable to the CCP members! The Chinese (atleast most of them on this forum) anyway think that CCP is the greatest thing that could happen to China!

May be they are scared of the Arab spring. These incidents in the last 2 years have shaken everyone, CCP would be too blind to ignore power of the common people. So, they need to continue building false hopes for the time-being.

Do you not feel the Arab spring is inevitable? Heck it even started in India in the form of Anna Hazare movement. To think it wont happen in China is a logical fallacy.
What is a Logical Fallacy?
A logical fallacy is, roughly speaking, an error of reasoning. When someone adopts a position, or tries to persuade someone else to adopt a position, based on a bad piece of reasoning, they commit a fallacy. I say "roughly speaking" because this definition has a few problems, the most important of which are outlined below. Some logical fallacies are more common than others, and so have been named and defined. When people speak of logical fallacies they often mean to refer to this collection of well-known errors of reasoning, rather than to fallacies in the broader, more technical sense given above.

Oh, that is where indians (at least most of them on this forum) get things wrong.

There is very few Chinese thinks that CCP is the GREATEST THING that could happen to China. We all believe that CCP is the NECCESSARY thing that fits the need of China at current stage: Industrilization.

And the dark side of CCP is the cost that majority of chinese is willing to pay for this.

I would believe a pig before believing CCP would embrace democracy. Why would they? Their elite members are living most enviable life without accountability, without obligation, without respecting to law. Their children are riding on their parents' prestige and made billion of money. With communist dictatorship, they basically can do whatever they want. Under a democratic society, they could lose everything they've been enjoying so far. Their crimes and disgraces could be disclosed under the sunlight. Again, why would they?

One thing you have to give to Falunggong is their amazing ability to find sponsorship, the 64 students are like some beggars compared with Falung.
I won't be surprised that some of the money are actually coming from some high ranking CCP members, because I don't think CIA or some "NGO" have such budget for this stupid organization.

Ah, I see your implication here but it doesn't work very well in logics for me.
If there are truly some high rank CCP members who want to make some noise about the core of CCP,
it would have been a better choice to support 64 guys, at least they held the flag of democracy and equality.
To support an infamous religion like organization whose founder was actually a jobloser and
only wanted to cheat some money from his followers at the very beginning, they are wasting their money.
But CIA is different, they are interested in anything that can make a noise.
So they have Voice of America since longtime ago, now this one.
