I thought it might be this one: days ago,The world's first high-speed railway in areas with extremely low temperature was open...

this is another one conecting the north and the south...the longest one so far...
-----------------------------------------

this 2390 Kms long high speed railway actually consists of 3 parts ...the first part (Wuhan-Guangzhou)was open in 2009, the second part (ZhenZhou- Wuhan ) was operational this year as well...so this is the third part(Beijing- Zhenzhou) that is going to be operational on Dec 26 .

Japanese has been trying to sell them their HSRs in the 1980s, they offered long term loan, very low interests, and possible TOT, but the deal stayed there forever. China is not required to help India to build up its infrastructure.

Since Indian love Japanese so much, let them make this deal. I would be more than happy to see what leads to the end.

High speed line parallel with the existed Beijing-Guangzhou line.
Wish the next one will be parallel with Beijing-Hongkong, Jiulong line.

I don't think Japanese has capability to build HSR in tropical region like India before 2-3 years trial. Now only China has the immediate capability.

Moreover, HSR of Japanese could be as twice expensive as China's. So I don't think Indian will choose a much expensive one.

Will the line be renamed Beijing-Hong Kong HSR when the section that links Shenzhen and HK opens in 2015?

The section connecting Guangzhou and Shenzhen is already operational。

The total length of the Beijing-HK HSR will exceed 2440 km。

When the Beijing—Shenyang HSR is completed,it will be possible to make high-speed railway rides all the way from Haerbin in the northeast to HK in the south, totalling nearly 4150km in length and covered in perhaps 13 hours initially。

Oh,I almost forget, the HSR artery from Haerbin to Shenzhen already exists, for now one just has to make a slight detour along the coast via Qinhuangdao。

we should not post this in public, once China want to nuke India, HK / Cantonese just need 13 hours run way.
Haerbin so far is few place to avoid being nuked back by Indian.

Beijing-Guangzhou HSR began to sell tickets to public, cute girl, looks so familiar, must be a Beijing kid, the look is so typical.
Beijing to Guangzhou 300km/h wagon second class costs 865 RMB, roughly 8000 rupees. Zhengzhou, Henan

reporters gethered to interview the first ticket sold.Zhengzhou, Henan

Beijing - Zhengzhou, the newly opened part, costs 310 rmb for 300km/second class. Zhengzhou, Henan

Meanwhile

Taiyuan began to sell Beijing-Guangzhou HSR ticket, Taiyuan is not on the Beijing-Guangzhou line, but the existing HSR from Taiyuan to Shijiazhuang will
meet B-G in Shijiazhuang, thus completes more the national network.

Taiyuan, Shanxi

Xi'an is now also connected to Beijing via HSR:Xi'an-Zhengzhou-Shijiazhuang-Beijing。

When the Xi'an-Chengdu HSR finishes in a few years,Sichuan province。。。

Wow,the national network is shaping up nicely。

Soon China would only have to build shorter-distance inter-city expresses as fill-ins for a comprehensive HSR network。

China is getting smaller by the day!

Very true. I am thinking of going to X'ian when weather gets better. First I thought of flight but now this HSR looks more promising.

Some history, HSR is a complete new line, but the Beijing -Guangzhou railway line is one of the earliest rails in China.

1938, Guangzhou to Hankou ( Wuhan) railway destroyed by Japanese air raid. the new line to the right is a temporary detour.

In 1957, railway bridge built up across Yangtze river, joined the Beijing-Wuhan and Wuhan-Guangzhou lines into one, the line started to take the name: Beijing_Guangzhou Line.

in the 1960s, railway workers repairing the rail in flood, Baoding-Ding county section.

In 1988, Beijing-Guangzhou build up its parallel line.

one of the tunnels for the parallel line, 1988

in the early 1980s, Guangzhou shaoguan railway station.

1993,railway workers is pouring hot water into passengers instant noodle bowl.

Now
Two HSR trains passed by each other in Zhengzhou, Henan

2002, upgrading existing rails and railroad beds.

Zhenzhou marshalling stations, comparison between 1950s and 2003.

2010, HSR Henan section under construction, Xinxiang, Henan.
