New Delhi: In a major boost to Army's firepower, defence PSU Bharat Dynamics Limited has been given a Rs 3,000 crore contract by the defence ministry to produce Russian-origin Invar anti-tank guided missiles for the T-90 tanks of the force.

"Bharat Dynamic Limited, Hyderabad, signed a contract with Defence Ministry for supplying Invar anti-tank guided missiles to Indian Army here yesterday. The contract is valued about Rs 3,000 crore," defence ministry said today.

I wonder how much TOT (if ANY) would we actually get out of this deal. BDL in all likelihood will probably import the parts/ components & assemble them here. BDL infact seems to be quite comfortable in simply assembling missile from CKD kits. Also, I read sometime back that the Army was forced to use older version of the Milan Anti-tank missiles as BDLwasn't technologically ready to manufacture the more sophisticated/ latest versions (not sure how much of it's still relevant).
