Mk 19 grenade launcher - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Mk 19 Grenade Launcher is a 40 mm belt-fed automatic grenade launcher that entered U.S. military service during the Cold War, first seeing action during the Vietnam War and remaining in service today.

The Mk 19 is a belt fed, blowback operated, air cooled, crew served, fully automatic weapon that is designed not to cook off. It fires 40 mm grenades at a cyclic rate of 325 to 375 rounds per minute, giving a practical rate of fire of 60 rounds per minute (rapid) and 40 rounds per minute (sustained). The weapon operates on the blowback principle, which uses the chamber pressure from each fired round to load and re-cock the weapon. The Mk 19 is able to launch its grenade at a maximum distance of 2,212 meters, though its effective range for a point target is about 1,500 meters, since the large rear leaf sight is only graduated to 1,500 meters. The nearest safe distance to launch the grenade is 310 meters in training and 75 meters in combat. Though the Mk 19 has a flash suppressor, it serves only to save the eyesight of its operator; it does not conceal the weapon's position. For night operation, an AN/TVS-5 night vision sight can be fitted.

The Mk 19 is a man-portable crew-served weapon that can fire from a tripod mounted position or from a vehicle mount. This is the preferred method as the weapon alone weighs 72.5 pounds (32.9 kg). The primary ammunition for Mk 19 is the high explosive dual-purpose M430 grenade. Upon impact, the grenade can kill anyone within the radius of five meters, and wound them within the radius of 15 meters. It can also punch through 2 inches (5.1 cm) of rolled homogeneous armor with a direct hit (0 Degree Obliquity), which means it can penetrate most infantry fighting vehicles and armored personnel carriers. It is especially effective when used against enemy infantry formations. The ammunition comes in 32 or 48 round cans weighing 42 pounds (19 kg) and 60 pounds (27 kg), respectively. Due to its low recoil and comparatively light weight, it has been adapted for use on many different platforms, including small attack boats, fast attack vehicles such as the Humvee (HMMWV), AAV and Stryker, military jeeps and a large variety of naval mounts.

XM307 Advanced Crew Served Weapon - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The XM307 Advanced Crew Served Weapon (ACSW) was a developmental 25 mm belt-fed grenade machine gun with smart shell capability. It is the result of the OCSW or Objective Crew Served Weapon project. It is lightweight and designed to be two-man portable, as well as vehicle mounted. The XM307 can kill or suppress human beings out to 2,000 meters (2,187 yd), and destroy lightly armored vehicles, watercraft, and helicopters at 1,000 meters (1,094 yd). The project was canceled in 2007.[1]

Equipment of the Indian Army - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The AGS-17 is a heavy infantry support weapon designed to operate from a tripod or it can be mounted on an installation or vehicle. The AGS-17 fires 30 mm grenades in either direct or indirect fire to provide suppressive and lethal fire support against soft skinned or fortification targets.

The weapon operates using a blowback mechanism to sustain operation. Rounds are fired through a rifled barrel which is removable (to reduce barrel stress).

Ammunition is held in a metal box and is linked. Standard boxes contain 30 rounds.

The tripod is equipped with fine leveling gear for indirect fire trajectories.

Our generals have disgusting their Impact - they always prepare to "past war". And they reject new developments of engineers. Only when Vietnameses got to them Мк19 they understood as far as this type of weapon is good, although a similar grenade launcher was created in the USSR 30 years ago! So was Bazooka and Panzerfaust. Only while did not see them in operations began to begin to think "And why for us such are not present?". They were, simply their creators were shot up to WW2.
Understood that made a mistake and created in 1971 AGS- 17.

Developed in 1993 by designers of the TsKIB SOO V.N. Telesh and B.A. Borzov. Experimental grenade launchers were tested in the combat environment in Chechnya and gained positive comments on their effectiveness. The RG-6 design(lndex 6G30) is noted for its simplicity and production effectiveness developed on the design configuration of the unit of barrels rotated by a winding spring and a self-cocking firing mechanism. The winding spring operates on the torsion principle and is being activated via rotation of the barrels' unit during the loading. The unit of the barrels comprises six 40 mm "rifle grenade discharges"
The RG-1 single-loaded grenade launcher was being developed paralleled to the RG-6.

Primary purposes for the grenade launcher of PAW - 20 is an infantry of opponent (both on the stretch of open country and after light shelters), unarmoured military equipment, cars, airplanes and helicopters on a stand, light structures.
PAW - 20 uses specially worked out low-momentum 20-millimetric ammunitions of dimension of 20х42 mm, that allows to conduct a fire from hands, or carriage, necessary for other types of weapon of such caliber. Ammunitions for PAW - 20 developed on the base of shells from 20-мм of automatic guns, equipped in the shortened cylindrical shells long 42 мм.

Arrangement of weapon is unusual enough - the pistol handle of fire-control is taken away to the right of axis of weapon and located next to the receiver of box, that provides optimal direction of return - for a barrel box in the rifle butt of rifle.

Mode of fire - only by single shots
For the conduct of infighting of PAW - 20 it is suggested to use with a collimator sight, for the conduct of firing on distance more than 100-150 meters will be required already optical with a permanent or variable increase

АGS- 17 is a good grenade launcher, but jumping awfully. More than 3 rounds in a turn will not do. But these 3 shots hit the target full.
