WASHINGTON : The Australian Government has requested a proposal for the procurement of two RQ-7B Shadow 200 Unmanned Aircraft Systems from the US Defense Security
Cooperation Agency (DSCA), at an estimated cost of $218 million.

DSCA has thus notified the US Congress of a possible foreign military sale (FMS) of two UAS to Australia.

The contract will include 4 ground control stations, support equipment, spare and repair parts, tools and test equipment, technical data and publications, personnel training and training equipment, U.S. government and contractor engineering, technical and logistics support services, and other related elements of logistics support, as reported in a DSCA news release.

The proposed sale of the RQ-7B Shadow 200 systems will improve Australian Army's capability to support ongoing ground operations in Afghanistan.

The prime contractor of the deal will be AAI Corporation in Hunt Valley, Maryland. Australia will be assigning four contractor representatives to support the delivery of RQ-7B Shadow 200 UAS in the country, the release said.
