Than do not present internet links as evidence. They are news, views, and speculations and should be presented as such.
Why not, Western journalism, minus Fox News, has a higher level of evidence than the Pakistani judicial system.

If this is your understanding of the GHQ, than fine. I am not going to elaborate more on the building structure and security measures of the PA's GHQ.
There is a gate to GHQ, Talibs penetrated that gate and took over the security building with a handfull of men.

Time will tell.
The world can't count on time for an unstable regime.

Externally mounted high resolution scintillation detectors (HRSD) on the aircrafts, helicopters, and balloons have been used since mid 1980s and more recently on the UAVs. I remember reading the proceedings of the Royal Society in 2008 where they talked about these airborne scintillation detectors and how research is being carried out to increase their resolution and sensitivity. Since the ionizing radiation does not penetrate the atmosphere (except Cerenkov radiation or fluorescence generated in the vicinity of sources), such detectors can not be mounted on the satellites. However, UAVa equipped with the HRSD can be linked with the satellite to establish a detection network. This work was presented in 2008, and I have no doubt in my mind that at least in the USA, this system is already working.
So you have UAVs in country that can detect this? You think 2008 pre-trial presentations are in operation? I think not.

Because expertise and material is more readily available in Russia than it is in Pakistan. If someone has to shop the material for dirty bomb, he will go to Russia. That is why I gave the reference of a book written on this subject.
Why don't you read "Pakistan Nuclear Disorder" or any of the other three dozen books about the subject. One outdated book of Russian WMD doesn't have anything to do with this discussion.

There was problem in Sawat that has already been taken care of. There is no Talibani-style sharia in any other part of Pakistan minus tribal areas which have never been under the control of the GoP. However, positive developments are being made on that front too.
We heard that before, how many Swat offencives are you going to have to run? Everytime you leave they just come back. We are still waiting for your long overdue S. Waziristan offencive... tick tock.

That the USA/EU is spending millions of dollars so that the jobless nuclear Scientist don’t fall in the hands of the so called 'rogue nations' and the unsecured enriched nuclear material does not find its way outside Russia.
They don't pay or employ our scientists, they buy our processed nuklear fuel and pay for dismanteling. I suggest you read the CTR agreement since you don't understand. What they are doing is reviewing our facilties and security protocols and making reports, of which we are passing with flying colours.

In that case Pakistan is not alone. Each and every country that possessed the nuclear technology before 1960s has been involved in proliferation at one point or another including Russia.
Really? What country has Russia proliferated to?

Glad to hear it but the action was a strategic failure. They wanted to take some of the rebels alive to interrogate them. SSG failed the secondary mission.
One of the terrorist is now in Pakistan Army's custody. During the raid he was wounded and paralysed intentionally so that he can be taken as a prisoner. :thank_you2:

Tarun, I have always admired your posts for they reflect your knowledge and conviction. But in this case, you appear to drift along with emotions.

Their exists a complex launch sequence that requires authentication at multiple levels. Even if someone goes nuts and wants to launch a nuclear-tip missile, he simply can not. It is not like pressing a trigger and there you go. First of all, the president or the commander in-chief has to authenticate the launch that is transmitted down the chain of command via encrypted codes. After several such authentications, does the commander of the silo or the launching vehicle can go ahead and initiate the launching sequence and that sequence can also be remotely aborted anytime at multiple levels. Even if the missile is launched, it can be re-directed and/or simply destroyed midair.

Second strike does not mean launching within seconds to minutes. It is for this reason that the silos or launchers are spreaded out. It is also for the same reason that multiple launching platforms are made available to launch a second strike.
No, not emotional at all, it's a pretty logical assumption. Every credible nuclear state has missile launch facilities with weapons in a state of readiness (or quick to arm), so a second-strike is as less time-consuming as possible. I did however concede that if the launch facility has electronic control by the country's nuclear command, there's not much the terrorists can do even if they gain control over it (other than stealing material or data).

AP report says that Jaish-e-Mohammed was involved.

Looks like even the Kashmir-centric groups are turning against Pakistan.

Kashmir was merely a side agenda for these groups to get, funding, following and the required infra.Pakistan has always been the primary agenda of all these Islamist groups. The Punjab based groups are apparently worried, given their strong links to AQ,that the pak establishment(under US prodding) might turn against them once the Northwestern front calms down.

RAWALPINDI: Pak Army soldiers have once again defeated the terrorists, as the operation at General Headquarters against the intruding terrorists concluded to its logical end Sunday morning.

Actually, I had seem many Pakistanis enjoying the Mumbai massacres and questioning the professionalism of Indian special forces because of the time it took to clear the terrorist scum.

We have now seen the level of professionalism of their own forces so many times now. From the abject surrender of 200 of them to 20 Taliban teenagers, in the attack on Sri Lanka team, the police academy attack and now the HQ attack.

I have no expectations that they will learn anything from any of this. Just that they will sound even more foolish and clueless.

ISLAMABAD, Oct 11 (APP): The search and clearance operation to locate and eliminate terrorists holding 42 persons hostage, holed up in security office of General Headquarter, was successfully completed on Sunday. Director General Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Athar Abbas told media-persons that 39 hostages were freed safely in two phased operation launched at dawn.

A total of nine terrorists were killed while their leader Aqeel alias Dr Usman was captured in injured condition.

Three hostages also embraced shahadat, while 5 others sustained injuries as result of firing by their captors.

Twenty seven hostages were released in first phase and four terrorists were killed by the valiant commandos of the Pakistan Army. While 12 others were rescued in the second phase, also leading to the arrest of terrorists leader, he added.

A total of nine personnel, six on Saturday and three on Sunday, including two officers embraced shahadat during the episode. The Shaheed officers included Brig. Anwar and Lt. Col. Waseem Ahmed.

The terrorists were carrying arms and explosive devices, including suicide jackets, grenades, Improvised Explosive Devices, detonators and other explosive material.

The early Sunday operation lasted for about 45 minutes resulting in death of four terrorists, with the foremost aim to target those two wearing suicide jackets.

Terrorists’ leader Aqeel alias Dr. Usman who somehow managed to escape during the first phase of operation was traced and arrested in the second phase from the adjacent offices of the security building.

DG ISPR told media that in the second phase terrorist Aqeel was successfully overpowered within few minutes and remaining 12 hostages were also safely rescued from the clutches of the terrorists.

Terrorist commander, Aqeel alias Dr. Usman is allegedly the mastermind of terrorist attack on Sri Lankan cricket team.

The hostages had been shifted to safer places and were in good health conditions while those injured were accordingly removed to CMH , he added.

He said the combing and search of security office of General Headquarters, where the militants made hostage to the security personnel was over.

He said that there had been no senior officer among the hostages and the majority of hostages comprised army personnel and civilian servants.

Earlier, on Saturday six Army personnel embraced shahadat while five others were injured when the terrorists were challenged by the security staff at the checkpost on the Mall Road near GHQ.

The episode unfolded that at about 11.30 a.m, 9 culprits, riding a suzuki van, started firing at the personnel deputed at the barriers and also hurled hand grenades.

The injured were rushed to hospital as the security officials tried to secure the safe release of security-men who had been taken hostage by those assailants who survived the counter firing by the security guards.

They tried to enter the building while storming a checkpost No.2 near GHQ after initially facing resistance at checkpost No.1 where all the casualties occurred, he said.

He said all terrorists were dressed up in camouflage uniform and had been riding a Suzuki van bearing fake army number plate, attacked the checkpost No. 1.

Later, they headed towards Checkpost No. 2 where they were again intercepted by security forces.

imagine you breed vicious dogs to bite your neighbors ; one day the town sheriff comes along and asks you to keep those dogs tied up in the backyard or he's going to put you in jail. you do that but every once in awhile one gets loose and bites someone . the sherrif asks you to put them down but you are too paranoid about what you see as your big burly unbeliever neighbor to do the same, the dogs grow restless until one day they bite your wife what do you do now?

substitute the ISI for yourself, the terrorists for the dogs , India for the neighbor, america for the sheriff and the Pakistani army for the wife. get the picture!

RIP to the soldiers who died fighting the militants these men faced the consequences of bad decisions taken by politicians and decision makers in Islamabad over the last twenty years .
