That was the theory behind short work weeks to keep unemployment low. Clearly it is only a theory.

French productivity is geared towards skilled jobs, it wouldn't work making the cheap crap coming out of China.

I think it is obvious what my reference to unemployment was.

France can only create new jobs with high technology innovative products. We can't get away with cheap clones. If China ever reaches this high level of development you will know what I mean.

Germans make high level engineering and technology. It is not cheap crap like China.

That doesn't relate to the value and technology of items made in China. China is cheap low value tech. Even Apple is not "Made in China" it is just screwdriver in China.

Our pay is too high to make it worthwhile to screwdriver in France. We have the biggest aviation and nuclear industries and rank in top 5 in most other high tech fields. Not to mention we dominate luxury markets. China is only in a couple of these catagories while they populate the low end.

so, only 10.1 are aircraft and electronics (6.7 percent), motor vehicles (6.3 percent)industrial machinery (8.3 percent)
total 31% of industial goods, how do you call the rest goods, "high tech" ?
(the number in China is 60%.)

PS. high wage is not a problem if you productivity is high as well.
