Antony Wants Indian-Origin Scientists From Abroad To Work For Indian Labs

Defence Minister, A K Antony requested the scientists who are originally from India but are working abroad to come back to India and work in Indian research and development laboratories.

Antony said that the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) are putting effort to recruit the Indian-origin scientists who are working abroad in its own research laboratories.

The defence minister visited Coimbatore on Tuesday to inaugurate the DRDO-Bharathiar University Centre for Life Sciences which is the first fully open rational centre among the all the three DRDO centres. The cost involved in the establishment of the centre is Rs 18 crore.

During the inauguration ceremony he said, “The Indian-origin scientists working abroad must be encouraged to return and work in the national research and development laboratories, universities and other scientific institutions to support the collaborative research programmes of the DRDO.”

It is reported from sources, he also said that the past brain drain could be transformed into a “brain gain” for maintaining scientific growth.

The life Science division has put dynamic hard work for recruiting the Indian based scientists who are working for other countries.

The Defence Minister also added that the coming decade is the ‘Decade of Innovations’ so the scientific growth should be maintained and creative thinking should be promoted
