Just thought this would be an interesting thing to point out.

Go to Washington Post front page, there is an article headlined :

In India, a poor man's rural game gets urban makeover, fresh coat of 'cool'

But, clicking it loads this article :

Rural players of the fading sport of kabaddi now aspire to TV fame and fortune

There is no real mention of poverty in the article but the headlines on main page of Washington Post would make one believe otherwise.

And when did Kabaddi become a poor man's sport?

The West only started dominating when they started their colonial rule, before that it is India and China which are prosperous and economic powers.

The other thing is when ever some nations challenge their hegemony in Olympics the rules of that sport are changed or that sport will be removed.

Yup.

And frankly, the Western obsession with poverty porn when it comes to India is downright disturbing.

Topics unrelated to that get a dose of usual poverty stats or atleast the mention of word "poverty" or "poor"like in this article.

Another thing to observe is that such articles are almost always written by Indians working for such publications.

Must be fashionable and the in-thing over there to toe the Western line and fashionably exaggerate and report all of that which ails India. Sadly, they still will be brown among a crowd of whites no matter how much they try to get in the "inner circle".

This is a tactic that is used not just for India but also for Russia (esp. when it comes to Putin: they just can not stand a guy who tries to make Russia strong)
Basically using proper wordings, pictures and headlines to send subtle messages to the Western (and other) readers. You can expect the same treatment for Modi too.

curious about this coincidence of german state sponsored english media so interested in India's racism just about a week before the INDIA-AFRICA Summit. link - notice how the narrator conveniently forgets to mention where these ignorant notions about africa came from in the first place, which media depicted them as such which is now spread all around the less-educated and vulnerable world.

@A chauhan, see? This is one example of editorializing title. Not trying to drag on a fight. Just pointing out with the hope to get you to empathize why this is wrong.
