Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar is hopeful that India will negotiate price upto 25 per cent less. The advance fighter jet will cost India 75 million euro each instead of 105 million euro quoted earlier.

The supply of full consignment of 36 fighters to the Indian Air Force will be completed within seven years of signing the deal.

The draft contract, which envisages supply of the first fighter within 36 months of signing the deal, has been finalised.

India's mammoth defence requirements and the swift manoeuvrability shown by the government towards accepting new proposals have led to considerable posturing from various powers.

The defence deal will be a big statement for India-France strategic ties. With the purchase, the government hopes to tide over the shortage of fighter jets in the Indian Air Force (IAF).

We are buying 36 Rafales for 9 billion in $.
That brings about 250 million per aircraft. This also sits with the Rafale prices given to 216 million to Egypt and Qatar who is buying them for 290 million per aircraft.

Euro fallen a lot since few years may be only 80c to usd soon. Euro could collapse before delivery done though lol.

The deal is pretty much done and dusted. All the reviews and negotiations over.Just inking remains and it will happen on republic day.

What a waste, could have easily bought a 5th Gen Fighter in more numbers for same price. Also would have scored better relations , now we're stuck with Rafale

My prediction made in 2014 still stands.

Indian air force will not get Rafale even after paying for them.

The astrological conditions are simply not favorable for France india military cooperation.

The conditions will deteriorate in the coming years.

our stealth is for Pakistan coz Pakistani radars cant even detect 3 helicopters flying near there army HQ and kills osama.......

F-35 fanboys says we have stealth we don't need anything else.Later on we will see them shot down by obsolete air defense system and their nightmare dogfight.

It is true that Radar technology is trying to play catch up with stealth technology and has shown lot of promise but to dismiss F 35 out of hand would be very foolish IMO.

If serbia can shot down a 0.001 m2 target with S-125 than this is indeed post of the year.

It is true that Radar technology is trying to play catch up with stealth technology and has shown lot of promise but to dismiss F 35 out of hand would be very foolish IMO.

The evolving jamming and electronic assistance systems are much improved in fifth gen fighter to escape from surface to air missiles. But not against missiles from Ship or other fighters ...

In future it's easy to detect stealth fighters from ground based heavy radar's, But not from ship and Fighter aircraft Radar's

The Serbs had Intel supporting them, they knew the F-117As flight path and time.

And the fact is since 1983-2016,there has been only 1 Stealth aircraft that has been shot down ever.In the same time period there have been more than 50 losses of non - Stealth aircraft better known as 4th Gen aircraft

That's the kind of combat record Stealth can achieve, something 4th Gen has failed to do.
