If it crash landed then the pilot would have lost control... which he did as it skidded off the runway at high speed. The fire trucks had to come and douse the flames. The air frame is a total loss as it was both burned and bent under the stress. Whatever parts that weren't near the impact zone will be cannabalised for other aircraft. France has sent several usable air frames for free that can be used as replacements. IAF wants to keep them in service until 2034, I think this is too much to ask of it as this is the third incident this year. 2028 would be a better withdrawal date.

He didn't say the plane is a write off, just badly damaged. Yes, India Today is sensationalist but on defence issues they generally (70% of the time) have accurate sources.

You don't dispute the validity of the report but the fact it is the only source you can find is supposed to mean something else? I don't get it.

The report says damaged not crashed. That's the keyword there. The lack of coverage shows its a fixable issue as well.

So does France. The old aircraft are for cannibalising not for fleet numbers. In this world there is no free meal.

The report says badly damaged, badly is the key word there. You don't repair a compromised air frame, you cannibalise it.

The lack of coverage shows Indian media cares more about fake political scandals than the actual state of its armed forces.

If the undercarriage is damaged, you replace it. You don't throw away a good airframe for some NEET bux. Even F 22s are badly damaged and return back to service.
