DGA Delivers Third French A400M
The Direction Générale de l'Armement (DGA) took delivery of the third production A400M military transport aircraft on July 25, 2014. The aircraft, carrying the manufacturer's serial number MSN10, was transferred on the same day to the French air force, and will fly to Orléans-Bricy air base where it will be operated by the air force. This latest aircraft was certified in mid-May. The state-of-the art A400M produced by Airbus Defence and Space is a tactical transport aircraft having strategic range, and has no competitor on the world market. Powered by four turboprop engines, it was designed to carry up to 37 tonnes of cargo and to fly the full range of missions relating to air transport, including inter- and intra-theater transport, assault landings on unprepared airstrips, air dropping of personnel and supplies, including from very high altitudes, in-flight refueling and medical evacuation. MSN10 is the fourth aircraft delivered of the 170 ordered to date by the program's seven partner nations: Belgium, France, Germany, Luxemburg, Spain, Turkey and the United Kingdom. Two have already been delivered to France in 2013, and the first Turkish aircraft was delivered in April 2014.
