Conclusion of the author are vague and shallow. Production of nukes can be increased given we have surplus fissile material. Every time there is tension the cogs get extra lube.

Our ambiguity is not an hindrance but deterrence. Only an arm chair expert would draw doubt as we are not disclosing the numbers. The real people who trace and track our nukes, hate it.

Agni series are most advanced when it comes to targeting and flight profile with circular error probability of 2 digits in meters. The production rate is as good as Chinese or Russian can clock. One can take hint from ISRO.

Chinese have advantage when it comes to conventional package that they can deliver in large number (not including MIRV) using their ballistic missile inventory. India is getting there slowly, as Nuclear package delivery is being sorted out first.

Whats stopping the range? Or is it understated?

I will go by what they publicly announce. And in my understanding it's good enough to look after our immediate and near future threats.

IMO one word that can describe the range constrains is the 'Software'.

Every extra 100 meter added is a new coding, new calculations, new flight profile and an update in the software. Even when it can be done in Labs. the same needs validation i.e. testing. The range we hail to cover is too much in hand to add in variables that going for bigger range will require more men hours.

The hardship to increase the range in terms of developing new and efficient motors, fuel, casting, aerodynamics, canisterisation, storage, infrastructure and testing will require men hours as well but there are certainly no impediments in terms of sophistication and know hows.

A general view here is that we can tweak with weight of the package to increase the range. I am personally not too sure about this because that will still require profile for longer flight and the target. If that is possible then it's still a make shift arrangement, a compromise; should not be considered as capability.

This is the actual cannister of Agni V, not that slim & tall cannister which looks like prototype cannister for Agni II/II Prime (IV). But yes, there will be Agni IV Cannister test soon.

Because of the distant angle of capture it looks like that. It is painted in army green colour and compare the diameter of canister with trailer chassis.

Isn't a tractor like arrangement going to be very conspicuous? I was really hoping they could disguise it as Semi-trailers.

Lets clear the smoke.. Its not about distant or angle. Carefully look at the two pics.
Agni 5 cannister have 2 and a half segment.
While the mysterious cannister have 3 and a half sections
    IMG_20170824_223525.jpg IMG_20170824_223536.jpg
    .
BOTH THE IMAGES ARE VERY OLD
This mysterious 3 and a half section cannister was probably meant for Agni II / Agni IV and was scrapped for unknown reasons, however as per my latest info, DRDO is indeed making a proper & modern cannister for Agni IV which could be tested by this year.

That cannister launch pic you gave is of "65 TON DUMMY PROJECTILE TEST".
    :bounce::bounce::bounce:
While Agni V officially weighs 50 tons (while according to my calculations <25 tons)

Sir, by trains you mean on the railway lines?
There are 48 canisters with A5, in 48 trains, running along the length of the Indian rail lines??
