The Taliban have carried out a co-ordinated attack on the Afghan parliament in the capital, Kabul, where heavy fighting is still going on.

Attackers detonated a huge car bomb outside the building, before racing into parliament itself, reports say.

Police are evacuating the premises, while trying to fight off the attackers.

The Taliban say they are carrying out the attack to coincide with a vote to endorse a new defence minister.

Pictures on social media showed parliament full of smoke and people running for cover.

The incident happened as new Defence Minister Massoom Stanekzai was being introduced to MPs, who need to endorse him.

Local media report another explosion in the Dahmazang area of Kabul city.

Television was broadcasting live from the building when the explosion struck and MPs were seen fleeing the building.

Ghani will take Afghanistan peace process into the dark ages of Pakistan controlled taliban country. Poor people of afghan have to suffer at the hands of Pakistan . It's highly speculative about talibans getting full help from both China and Pakistan do recently engaged in talks with talibans in the name of peace mediation activities.

China will create havoc in Afghanistan to keep the us pouring money into the country . Even lkg kid can see it through but New President can't ?

Must be Taliban.

ISI again playing its stock game of 'running with the hare and hunting with the hounds'. From the POV of Afghanistan, a good cop bad cop routine is being played out on them at their expense. In the new arrangement between Afghanistan and Pakistan, the Bad Cop (aka Good Taliban) will be represented by Pakis while the Good Cop is Pakistan itself.

This one country is so undermined by its own 'tactical brilliance' and yet they keep inflicting their brilliance on others.

Now they will start Aman Ki Asha for Afghanistan.

The deal is yet to be finalized based on the last report I read it was a MOU.
Did I miss something?
You are all referring to the sharing of intelligence between the two neighboring nations?

So much for the intelligence sharing and joint ops bogie raised by the west... Afghanistan is going backwards and not forwards and as long as ISI is pretending to play savior this problem is going no where. The west prefers to turn a blind eye... Ghani you won't last long.

Yes.

But the deal announced on Monday (May 18) triggered uproar in the Afghan parliament and an avalanche of criticism on social media, with many accusing President Ashraf Ghani's government of selling out to longtime nemesis Pakistan.

AFGHAN PARLIAMENT UNDER ATTACK: COZYING UP TO PAK DOES NOT HELP GHANI

'It Was A Huge Blast That Shook The Building....'
Suicide Bomber Blows Himself Up Outside Parliament....
Blast Shatters Windows, Lawmakers Flee.... Parliament Was In Session.... Taliban Fighters Take Positions

KABUL
— A Taliban suicide bomber and several gunmen attacked the Afghan parliament on Monday, shattering windows and forcing lawmakers to flee, as a second district in two days fell to the Islamist group in the north.
Violence has spiraled in Afghanistan since the departure of most foreign forces at the end of last year and the fall of the second district raises questions about the NATO-trained Afghan security forces' ability to fight the Taliban.
Insurgents are pushing to take territory more than 13 years after the U.S.-led military intervention that toppled the Taliban from power.
"A suicide bomber blew himself up just outside the parliament building and several fighters took positions in a building close to parliament," said Ebadullah Karimi, spokesman for Kabul police.
Afghan security officials said all lawmakers were safe.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed responsibility.
"We have launched an attack on parliament as there was an important gathering to introduce the country's defense minister," he said by phone.
Lawmaker Shukria Barekzai said: "It was a huge blast that shook the building and shattered windows. We are in a safe place right now."

The withdrawal of foreign forces and a reduction in U.S. air strikes have allowed Taliban fighters to launch several major attacks in important Afghan provinces.
The second district to fall to the Taliban on Monday was in the northern province of Kunduz.
The Taliban captured Dasht-e-Archi district a day after hundreds of militants fought their way to the center of the adjacent district of Chardara.
"The Taliban managed to take it over this morning as the area has been surrounded for days," Nasruddin Saeedi, the district governor who escaped to the provincial capital, Kunduz city, told Reuters by telephone.
"They are many foreign fighters with heavy machine guns. We have asked for reinforcements, but none arrived."
The fall of the second district within a day underlines questions about Afghan forces' ability to quell the Taliban.
Afghan soldiers were preparing a counterattack to retake both districts, another local official said.
Monday's heavy fighting was just three km from the governor's compound.

Karzai had gone out of control and he was cut to size by the US-led block. Ghani is doing what NATO wants in the region, that is more chaos.

Western powers know that a stable Afghanistan will not be at friendly terms with the NATO and it's regional ally Pakistan and Afghanistan will try to develop better relation with India, Iran, Russia and China. US wants a foot hold in area close to Central Asia and China, and Afghanistan fits perfectly in the plan of things.

If the Intel sharing is not formalized yet then see this attack as a negotiating tactic to have it accepted - Only Pakis can protect you etc. hence have intel sharing and aman ki asha.

And the dang thing is even if it is formalized it would be more of the same - To extract more and more from the Afghans.

This is a Sulaimani keeda - aise nahi jata hai - ek do genocide mangta hai. Best is to dismember Pakistan. Then and only then does the part that is no longer under the control Pakistani-Punjabi gets to find peace and cooperates with the neighbour. The part that is still under the Pakistani-Punjabi will continue to fester. Final solution is to have the Pakistani-Punjabi to migrate to London/Arabia - Then the Keeda is finally shant and out of the neighbourhood.

Afgans need to understand that Pakis would always wanna treat them like slaves.

Pakis would never learn from their history and because of harming AFG they have their own house on fire.

U missed lots ! This is not about intelligence sharing alone .Its more to do with eliminating asserts Afghan agencies to check terror networks working hand in gloves with ISI to destabilize the country into a puppet Taliban state by doing so they can keep India out of this region. Note :Our whole central plans depends upon situation in Afghanistan. NOW China too granted direct access to Taliban since then secrewt meetings taking place in China. It means more trouble for NATO and India. Its China's best interest to keep Americans engaged in Afghanistan. More and More like this so its not simple as that, Talibanised Afghanistan will destabilize peace in the Asian countries. This man president Ghani is a puppet of UK secret agency. He is playing double game with west ,Pakistan and India . What he is doing is against afghan people's will or even afghan armed forces .People of Afghanistan are pro Indians or i may say they are literally Anti Pakistan .Don't get me wrong when i say this .West along with US UK may look like sweet heart of India and against use of terrorism against India .But look what is the reality here. MI6 FBI ISI are working together for very long time .they know what pakistan is doing but they wont care.Isn't it true? UK and NATO wont allow India's growth as leader in this region . Its much bigger design which India should be worried. And we are !!! This is unacceptable for us.
