Propping up afghan forces with military aid is necessary ,modi govt have given 4 mi-25 attack helicopters ,it couldn't have possibly gone from paki airspace ,could have been Iranian but giving large amount of military aid like tanks and field guns will present logistics challenge and how would we transport it also the ammunition and maintainence will be challenge,will iran give way or from central asia ,The northern route which Americans talk about,modi showed some spine by giving mi-25 but stopped their ,could he go a further step with attack version of Hawk jet that Hal talks about
