A high speed bearing test facility was designed and erected at Veltech Technical University on its seventh graduation day. The project was inaugurated by D K Tamilmani, chief controller R&D(Aero), DRDO, Ministry of Defence, Govt of India. The test, which is funded by GTRE, DRDO, will be used to test Squeeze film dampers/bladed disk, rotors up to a speed of 20000 RPM. The test rig also facilitates monitoring of various parameters Squeeze film dampers are essential components of high-speed turbo machinery since they offer the unique advantage of dissipation of vibration energy and improve the dynamic stability of rotor-bearing systems. Tamilmani later declared the Vel Tech High Tech Engineering College graduation ceremony open and distributed 485 certificates and 11 medals to graduands.

Vice chairman Sakunthala administered the oath. Chairman Rangarajan presided over the ceremony.Director K V D Kishore Kumar graced the occasion. Principal Dr Selvam welcomed the gathering.
