Indian Army post ambushed along LoC, casualties feared

NEW DELHI: An Indian post was ambushed by Pakistani troops along LoC in Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir, defence sources said on Monday.

According to initial reports, casualties were feared.

Five Indian soldiers killed; Pak army behind attack: sources

New Delhi: Five Indian soldiers have died after they were ambushed by Pakistan soldiers in the Poonch area of Jammu and Kashmir. Sources say the Pakistanis entered Indian territory for the attack last night.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah tweeted: "Was briefed early this morning about news that 5 of our soldiers had been killed on the LOC. My heartfelt condolences to their next of kin."

Sources say the Indians attacked were on patrol duty along the Line of Control in what the army describes as "an area domination exercise" in the Chakanda Bagh area of Poonch.

The assault is likely to impact plans for a resumption of peace talks between India and Pakistan.

Foreign Secretary Sujatha Singh said recently that India would be "picking up the threads" of peace talks with the new Pakistani government led by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, which was elected in May.

Ms Singh however had caveated that any dialogue with Islamabad "presupposes an environment free of violence and of terror".

Cross-border relations hit a low in January and February this year after six soldiers in total from both sides were killed in exchanges along the Line of control in Kashmir.

Pakistan denied that its troops had mutilated two Indian soldiers and beheaded one of them.

Prime Minister Sharif has called for closer rapprochement with India since winning the general elections.

Involving in too many areas is waste of energy. Kashmir is the place where we should concentrate. There are many agitations in PoK against Pakistan and Pak-sponsored Jihadi groups....we just need to feed the fire. Advertise all development in Indian Kashmir in PoK, by any means. Similarly advertise all their sufferings in PoK to our side. Promise the people of Kashmir an unified Kashmir in Indian Union instead of uttering status-quo mantra. Shift LoC inch by inch; dont fear the escalation. Bribe Pakistani criminals, mafias, Baluch nationalists and Afgan refugees to eliminate Jihadi leaders.Drop minimum detterance policy and build up Nuke and missile arsenal to make your enemy equally scared of escalation be it Pakistan or China.

One more warning should be given to them...one more nonsense- firing or intrusion- Indus Water treaty will stand void.

Stop all peace talks or do the drama- it rally doesnt matter; But do the right thing at the right place.
