what these 34 ships will do if the terrorist is in the form a 'coconut' that can fell into president's head. Hang on..all the coconuts in mumbai have been removed andWhtever sprouted from today onwards will be eliminated by American spy drones.
The municipal authorities removed the coconuts near the city's Gandhi museum to eliminate any chance of them hitting the president during his three-day visit which begins Saturday.
Even monkey catchers are around as well.American security agencies feel Mumbai Monkeys especially wild monkeys have innate hatred towards American presidents.Reason-These Poor animals may involve in American politics and revive outsourcing US JOBS.

Trained monkey catchers will be employed to keep the wild monkeys away from Obama.

Delhi security drill on Saturday

NEW DELHI: As the whole paraphernalia of US Secret Service agents, Indian intelligence agencies, National Security Guard commandos, Indian Navy and Air Force, Air Traffic Control and police personnel join hands to secure US president Barack Obama during his India visit, a full dress rehearsal — complete with a dummy president — of the security arrangements will be undertaken in both Mumbai and Delhi to help get the timing and co-ordination right.

The full security rehearsal will be conducted in Mumbai on Thursday, the Delhi dry run may be timed on Saturday. The drill in Mumbai would cover arrangements starting with the US president's arrival at the Chattrapati Shivaji International Airport, his travel to the Taj Hotel in Colaba , most likely in a chopper, and his programmes through the day. Incidentally, Americans have been allowed to join the Air Traffic Control (ATC) staff in monitoring the landing and takeoff of Air Force One, the president's official carrier, as well as other US aircraft included in his entourage.

The rehearsal will also pinpoint the role of Indian intelligence agencies, police, Navy, Air Force and NSG in Mr Obama's security drill , leaving nothing to doubt. Indian Navy vessels have already taken positions along the coastline and all inward-bound sea traffic will be curtailed during Mr Obama's stay in Taj that dots the Mumbai coastline. Air defence will be ensured with the deployment of IAF jets and helicopters in Mumbai and Delhi skies. Also, hot balloon excursions and para-gliding within 100 km around the spots to be visited by the president will be banned.

During the dress rehearsal, a dummy president will travel on all the routes to be taken by Mr Obama. "This will help in ruling out any co-ordination issues between the US secret service and the police personnel, besides getting the timing of the VVIP movement right," said a senior official overseeing security arrangements.

NSG sharpshooters will take positions on high rises both in Mumbai and Delhi. Especially in Delhi , NSG commandos will man rooftops of buildings that fall along his route as he travels to Humayun's tomb, Raj Ghat and Parliament House. Shops in Nizamuddin area along his route to Humayun's tomb will be shut on November 7.

34 US WARSHIPS INCLUDING A AIRCRAFT-CARRIER INSIDE INDIAN TEROTARIAL WATER!?

Diplomatic mission or a show of force?
Those ships are there for joint operations with the French fleet, the operation is called Agapanthus 10' which will include patrols over Afghanistan. France is sending the CdG battle-group, when they arrive there will be 17 French warships in the IOR. Don't see anyone worried about that.

Sorry guys..

Pentagon Dismisses Reports of 34 Warships for Obama Trip Security

The Pentagon did not mince words in dismissing as "absolutely absurd" and "comical" media reports from Indian news outlets that the US Navy was sending 34 warships off the coast of Mumbai as part of the security preparations for President Obama's upcoming trip to India.

Pentagon Press Secretary Geoff Morrell did not shy away from dismissing reports that appeared in Indian media outlets, such as the Press Trust of India and the television network NDTV. The Press Trust of India is that country's largest news agency.

Morrell told reporters he was making an exception to the practice of not discussing Presidential security details to shoot down the reports.

"I will take the liberty this time of dismissing as absolutely absurd this notion that somehow we were deploying 10 percent of the Navy -- some 34 ships and an aircraft carrier -- in support of the president's trip to Asia," said Morrell at today's Pentagon briefing. "That's just comical. Nothing close to that is being done."

He acknowledged that a Presidential trip requiring security needs "should not come as a surprise to anyone" and that the Defense Department "does play a role in support of Presidential missions." He said it was customary to not discuss such security requests, but "I made an exception in batting down this absurd notion of there being 34 ships, or more than 10 percent of the Navy, deployed in support of this trip. That is most certainly not the case."

The Indian media reports also say security for the Presidential trip will cost $200 million a day. Morrell "there's been a lot of creative writing that's been done on this trip over the last few days. I've seen other reports with some astronomical figures in terms of what it costs to take these trips. I don't know the cost. We don't speak to the cost." White House spokesman Robert Gibbs was blunt in his characterization of the cost reports, "this trip doesn't cost $200 million a day."

Referring to the reports about the 34 warships GIbbs said, "The Department of Defense has said, as we have, that that's simply not true." Gibbs would only say the costs were comparable to the costs incurred by Presidents George W. Bush and Clinton to the region.

A Navy spokesman said "we do not comment on Presidential security," but provided some statistics about the Navy's deployment schedule that help put the Indian media reports into some context.

There are 288 ships in the Navy's fleet, currently 147 of them are away from their home port and at sea. 110 of the 147 are deployed on missions, the other 37 are involved in training. Those numbers translate to 51 percent of the total fleet being at sea right now and 38 percent of the fleet being deployed.

Using the number of 34 warships being reported by Indian media outlets, 34 ships out of 288 would mean 11.8 percent of the fleet would supposedly be working Obama security.

ABC News Jon Garcia contributed to this report.

They are not worried about it. They are commenting on how silly it is to send 34 warships to protect the president. 17 French warships is like half the fleet. xaxa

That sounds stupid...Diego Garcia is right there...why should they bring ships into Indian territorial waters? And with all this display of aggression it will lead to further mistrust only, Americans are here to gain Indian trust...not spoil it.

Reports that US has moved 34 warships to Mumbai is absurd: US

WASHINGTON: Dismissing news reports as totally absurd, the US has denied that it has moved some 34 war ships around Mumbai, where President Barack Obama would arrive on the wee hours of Saturday, the Pentagon has said.

"That's just comical. Nothing close to that is being done," Pentagon spokesman, Geoff Morrell, told reporters at a news briefing.

Morrell was responding to questions about news reports appearing in various Indian media that the Pentagon has deployed a substantial number of its resources in India before the visit of the US President to India.

Obama reaches Mumbai on the wee hours of Saturday. "We obviously have some support role for presidential travel. We don't speak to that in detail for security reasons. But I will take the liberty this time of dismissing as absolutely absurd this notion that somehow we were deploying 10 per cent of the Navy -- some 34 ships and an aircraft carrier -- in support of the President's trip to Asia," Morrell said.

"The notion that the President would require security as he travels to India and elsewhere should not come as a surprise to anyone. I mean this is a country that, sadly, withstood a devastating terrorist attack.

So it stands to reason that we would want to take precautions for Presidential travel," Morrell said in response to a question.

However, the Pentagon refused to answer question on if the US has received any special security requests for the presidential visit.

"We would not speak to you about special security requests. We wouldn't speak to you about any security requests.

All we'll say is that this department does play a role in support of presidential missions, but we don't care to, for security reasons, discuss the particulars of that," he said.

"I made an exception in batting down this absurd notion of there being 34 ships, or more than 10 percent of the Navy, deployed in support of this trip.

Why US need a fleet of ships including a AC for the visit, And most astonishing inside INDIAN water where INDIA`S WESTERN FLEET is?
I think Indian fleet is busy acquiring signature of American ships and their equiptment.
We can earn large amount of profits by selling this signature to inttested countries.

What to say now, INDIAN MEDIA:angry_6:

Its Really good to hear that US had no intentions on the first place of sending these ship in our territorial water hence respecting the IN presence..

That sounds stupid...Diego Garcia is right there...why should they bring ships into Indian territorial waters? And with all this display of aggression it will lead to further mistrust only, Americans are here to gain Indian trust...not spoil it.

This Visit is a very fragile one in the security sense. All terrorist organisations right from the small timers to the big timers like LeT and AQ will be training their eyes on India. Obama is staying at the Taj, in the suite riddled by bullets during 26/11. Its a subtle message to terrorists too I feel. But if anything arises, and someone tries to take advantage of any element arising, the USA is showing, its got everything ready to bomb the miscreants, in this case LeT or AQ in Pakistan.

Just think if the Terrorists don an attack on the President, and its traced back to Pakistan like 26/11, the Americans wont wait. Their Planes will take off the carrier and Bomb the camps in their own right! The Americans are fiercely protective of their presidents, especially off late, because lately they have too many enemies to count and monitor!

This is a Force projection, but its not against India for sure. Anyone saying so are touchy. Its just the USA sending out a signal to pakistani terrorists, that, we have come ready and anything as a single bullets fly, its Game Over. We will React, and dont need the Indians to do it for us! God Speed

The Americans have specific intel about pak terrorists planning an attack on Obama and no they are not in the arabian sea to stop it from happening but let it happen. Get rid of an unpopular Prez and then bomb the hell out of pakistan.

Seriously though it is ridiculous to even think that the US will devote 10% of its fleet just for the presidential visit. Yes they routinely are involved in any presidential visit but it is not that big. I would imagine a carrier would be involved so that they can launch their AEWs to scan for anything hostile enroute and during the stay. The Americans take their presidents post absolutely seriously and protect him at all cost no matter how popular or not the individual holding the post is.
