29 Indian and Nepal nationals had been arrested at Panadura, Modera by the Immigration Department officials while they were staying on Sri Lanka without valid visas on Saturday, Controller General of the Department of Immigration and Emigration W. A. Chulananda Perera said.
The foreign nationals were here following short education courses on tourist visa.
Monitoring, Intelligence and Investigating unit Chief Immigration Officer Amith Perera who made the arrests said that 12 Indians and 17 Nepalis were arrested while they were following a various type of courses paying large amounts of money.
The arrested persons were sent to the Mirihana Detension Centre for further inquires.
Police and immigration officials are looking for two masterminds, who are believed to be Nepal nationals. (Sanath Desmond)
