25,000 UK students to head to India over next five years: British Council
While 24,000 Indian students pursue higher education in various Universities across United Kingdom, the British Council seeks to bring 25,000 UK students to India over the next five years.
The objective of the British Council's new initiative called 'Generation UK' is to promote India as a destination for UK students to study and gain work experience.
Ms. Tammy Sandhu, Deputy Head of Mission and Head of UK Trade and INVESTMENT at British Deputy High Commission, Chennai, who was in Mysuru on Friday, said the initiative will offer mutually beneficial placements that will give UK's young people a chance to develop employability skills and support the internationalisation of Indian companies and academic institutions.
Earlier, Ms. Tammy and Ms. Mei-Kwei Barker, Director South India, British Council, launched the Great UK Education seminar series in Mysuru. The first seminar will be held between 2.30 p.m. and 5.15 p.m. at HOTEL Fortune, JP Palace, near Government Guest House on November 8.
The seminar being hosted for the first time in Mysuru by the British Council will cover various aspects of studying and living in the UK and an insightful session with alumni who will share their experiences of studying in the UK, said Sonu Hemanii, Senior Manager, Education UK, South India.
