11 ULFA cadres surrender in Tinsukia

11 Cadres of the Anti-talk factionof Ulfa surrendered today to the Tinsukia Deputy commissioner and Superintendent of Police, 12 Assam Rifle and the 8th Bihar regiment of the Indian Army. The surrendered cadres are Manoranjan Gogoi alias Kanu, Deepen Saikai alias Raja Asom, Manik Dohotia alias Megha, Jayanta Saikai alias Joy, Bulan Moran alias Devi Asom, Ranthu Moran alias Asin Asom, Niju Gohain alias Anadhi Asom, Hemanta Sangmai alias Jatin Khonekoron, Dhanya Saikia alias Kancha Asom, Dharmendra Sonwal alias Jambha and Raju Moran alias Ravika Asom. These surrendered cadres want to shun their violent past and come forward for the peace talks. If surrender such as these continue the Ulfa is soon to be wrecked. Most of them are trained in Myanmar where as other work as linkmen to the Ulfa. They also surrounded their firearms to the security forces, they are: 4 nos AK 81, 4 nos magazine, 1 nos G2 SLR, 2 nos of 7.62mm pistol, 2 magazine, 25 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, 30 rounds of 7.62 X 39 AK series ammunition, 7 nos Chinese grenades, 12 Molotov cocktail, 6 Kg of RDX, 7 Kg TNT explosives, 5 packets each of Green Gelatin sticks and Ordinary gelatin sticks. 2 nos of Cellphones, 2 packets of ammunition.

On the other hand the city police today arrested 5 NDFB cadres from the Christian basti area of the city. Police recovered a 9mm pistol along with 5 rounds of live ammunition and a bottle of Chloroform, but unfortunately 3 cadres managed to escape. The arrested are: Gajen Boro, Sanjib Sargiary, Jeeta Boro, Mitual Basumatary and Bijay Ramshiary. All of them are resident of Tamulpur.
