BEIJING: China on Monday said its financial and economic support for Pakistan was totally unconditional and based on the spirit of win-win cooperation. "No strings are attached to our support for the brotherly country. It has no ceilings. We continue to work with each other with sincerity and on the basis of win-win cooperation," Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Jianchao told a group of visiting journalists from Pakistan and Sri Lanka. "We are pursuing the agenda of a mutually beneficial partnership for the benefit of the people of both countries."-

The minister said that Chinese President Xi Jinping is visiting Pakistan around the middle of this month on the first leg of his one-week tour to South Asia. Other two countries he is set to visit are India and Sri Lanka. "The visit to Pakistan is in line with our mission to enhance bilateral cooperation and strategic partnership and mutual trust," the minister said. The sincerity in our relationship with Pakistan is the driving force behind boosting our existing ties to a new level, he said, and added that the relations between the two countries are not only on government-to-government level but also enjoy the confidence of masses in both countries. "This is the real beauty of our relations. We are not limited to one political party or one government in Pakistan. We enjoy equal trust of all political parties in Pakistan, whether in government or the opposition," the minister said, and added that two countries are jointly striving to enhance this relationship that has already been tested by time and has withstood every challenges for last many decades.

The minister said that Chinese president will have detailed discussions with Pakistani leaders during his upcoming visit on the prospects of exploring further opportunities of mutual cooperation. He said at least 25 major projects, especially in the energy sector, are being run in Pakistan by Chinese companies at present. The president is set to sign several new agreements as well as MoUs during his visit besides reviewing progress in the projects already being executed. "Defence, energy, capacity building, technology development, people-to-people contacts and cultural exchanges are the major areas to be discussed during the tour."

To a question, the minister said that no force can hinder the journey of progress and the bilateral relationship. "China and Pakistan are sincere friends. We are determined to support Pakistan in all fields. We want to give a clear message to the government and the people of Pakistan that we fully stand by them in their efforts for a strong, stable and prosperous Pakistan," he said. "The deep level of mutual trust and confidence will thwart any evil designs by any negative force."-

The minister said Pakistan-China deep-rooted relationship is a driving force to promote peace, stability and prosperity in the region. "This is in line with the aspirations of common people living in this region," he said. The two countries are actively working on construction of economic corridor, which he said will open new avenues of socio-economic cooperation.

To a question, the minister said Pakistan is playing an important role in combating terrorism and extremism. "Pakistan's army and the people have paid huge sacrifices in this fight. We highly appreciate Pakistan for it role in making the region free of terrorism," he said, and added that the two countries will continue their cooperation to root out menace of terrorism. "Pakistan's military and civilian government have assured us their full support in fighting out terrorist activities in Xinjiang region. Terrorism is our common enemy and we stand by each in getting rid of it."

About the engagements of the Chinese president's upcoming visit to Pakistan, Liu Jianchao said the exact details are being finalised through diplomatic channels. The exact date as well as the schedule will be announced very soon, he said, and hoped the visit will be another milestone in relationship between the two countries and help bringing them closer to each other.

Neo, this phrase "win -win co-operation" is a pet phrase of Current Chinese leadership. This phrase was used a few months ago when PM Li visited India and it was used about China-India cooperation. On Sept 17, when President of China, Me.Xi will be in New Delhi for strategic meeting..you will hear the same phrase again in relation to India China . Do not jump with joy thinking Pakistan has got another "big sugar daddy" after losing the past one who fed it for 50 years.

Mate, I donot consider Sino-Pak relations to be India centric so no matter what they say in India or any other country, I can only tell that actions speek more than words. China is doing more for Pakistan than our fake allies the USA and Arabs.

There is no sugar daddy as Chinese are business men, a trading nation without imperialistic approach to their allies. So no free lunch for anyone. We pay and they deliver on soft conditions with a lot of tot.

Japan is investing big money in India: does she deserves to be called your sugar daddy? Please leave cheap shots for core trolls, it.doesn't suit you.

The topic Imho is about Sino-Pak relations, not India.
Chinese concerns about Uyghus are being met with great satisfaction and mutual cooperation.

As I stated above, acrions speak more than words. We have been very succesful breaking and weakening the TTP in Waziristan hence the significant decrease in terrorist attacks since Karachi Airport siege. I am not.saying its over but we are making progress.

One should wonder why TTP and other outfits are not taking advantage of the Islamabad sit-ins.
This would be ideal ground and opportunity for terrorists to strike.

Chinese have walked the talk of no interference in our neighour's internal politics. Despite ups and downs of Bhuttos and Sharif that the past decades have witnessed our bilateral ties grow robust day by day based on mutual respect.

It's irrelevant to ideology or religion. Neither is interested in forcing one's way of life upon the other.

Al last, the cooperation between the two countries is also very active in the domain of the fight against terrorism. Several joint exercises were conducted in the past, and frequent exchanges continue to occur, although the recent terrorist attacks carried out by the Uyghurs, a Muslim minority, made the Middle Kingdom weary of Pakistan in view of the historic involvement of the Pakistani secret services with various terrorist movements. Yet, the two countries continue to be a key partner to each other in the defence domain, and these relations will probably be consolidated as time will go on.

It's the Musharrafs who responded to Chinese admonishment and attacked the Red Mosque in Islummabad

Terrorism, those non state actors, including Baluchi or Waziristan separatists are a threat to the very Pakistani establishment itself. So Musharraf or Zardari would fight them for their own good rather than at Chinese request.

Our time tested "unbreakable union" will become more and more important with the NATO pull-out ahead. Earlier I trumpeted "soft partition" of Afghanistan by peripheral stakeholders like what Iraq is morphing into now (Kurdistan, Sunni/ISIS, and Shia/Baghdad) for our regional peace.

A knee jerk reaction and an untimely response from China

India knew China is the destabilizing factor in S.Asia venturing into POK and supporting Pakistani networks in India.

Those initiatives of China that are aimed at harming peace and prosperity of S.Asia will be dealt accordingly.

It is not "win - win co operation" but a "zero sum game" in Chinese terms.

Japan is investing in India since their corporates are not doing well and are in losses, India is like an oxygen for these companies.

Have you seen Indians and Japanese gestures recently??

Do they look like India went there for aid ??

Fact is Japan India relations are not aid related but a strategic ones in every sector. Japan needs India and India also need Japan.

The aid they are investing in India is 35 Billion, But India have infrastructure programs worth more than 500 Billion if not more (some say 1000 Billion) in the next 5 to 10 years.

Most of the amount will be from India itself.

India has something to offer in return for foreign investments namely access to a very large market.

On the other hand what does Pakistan offer in return?

When all other Asian markets are at record highs, what is happening to KSE? Where is the investor sentiment heading when it comes to Pakistan?

These kind of articles are like putting band-aids when the ship is sinking. Consistently downplaying the dangerous and unstable conditions for foreign investments that exist while going in a Paki PR damage control mode.

Not that anything else is expected from people like OP.

In Pakistan we are seeing what happens when a PM tries to have an Foreign Policy independent of the Generals from Rawalpindi.

As long as China continues with supply of weapons to Pakistan, there will be deep rooted friendship.

China is one of the leading countries in the manufacture of Power Plant equipment, why have they not helped their eternal friend tide over their power crisis?
